Sony's Potential Unannounced Exclusives

3rd party exclusive is hard to come by, 1st party exclusive is now the pillar of power.

Sony announced a lot of stuff in their long E3 conference such as Zipper's MAG and Bend's Resistance Retribution but is there more they are not showing us? Sony has acquired a lot of studio over the past ten years and not all of them have produce games since acquisition, what is going on? Are they hiding something from the gamers? Will we see more in TGS?

That is one of the reason they don't care about third party exclusive. They know for the cost to acquire a third party exclusive, its better the invest that amount in first part developers. Which is where Sony's real strength is, which is why Sony will not be a big loser. We know that they are cooking up something big. TeamICO is the one I am most excited about. Let see what Sony announces at Leipzig.

There isn't so much to steal by MS from Sony on the 3rd party, because most that could be stolen is already on the 360.

One of the two most important PS games lately, FFXIII, the other one from Konami could still make the crossover.

So yes, I agree, the 1st party stuff from Sony becomes more and more important. Little Big Planet is the one most appealing to a wide audience.

Big question is though how long many of those 1st party IPs will be delayed, like God of War III and GT5, if you ask me two big ones.

Nope, sadly there was an article a while back that said Sony had canned them to put the money towards some other game/s. It's too bad since I was rather interested in Eight Days but if the money is better spent improving another great game or two, it's not a big deal.

It's good to be reminded that Sony have got a major advantage over Microsoft after FFXIII went multiplat - I've seen so many people say they're not getting a PS3 now, it's disappointing. With so many more exclusives and multiplat PS3 games reaching the sort of quality they are on the 360, it looks like the PS3 has a fair chance of winning the console war. Especially if trophies become standard for every new game soon.

This could very well be it. Hardware: Online Arena was released once the PS2 got online capabilities. The PSTwo (Slim version) gained the internal network adapter and Online Arena was the first game to hit (a 1st party title literally given to players on their introduction network disc).

While I have no proof (Neither does anyone else here), out of those games Hardware 2 would appear to be the most likely. It's unknown to the majority and has had no mention at all anywhere. Heavy Rain is mentioned constantly in topics like this, so it won't be that, and it has already been confirmed that Heavy Rain is not the game they're talking about.

So Hardware2 (H2:OA?) is my choice for 1st party. However I still feel Free Radical will bring TimeSplitters 4 to the PS3 exclusively (Timed), which could come as a side announcement to this 'big-hitter' we're hearing such great things about.

Couple things that make me just wanna slap whoever wrote this. Insomniac is opening a studio in North Carolina, not Georgia. And didn't Jaffe already confirm they were working on a new Twisted Metal until Sony told him to keep quiet? Other than those two things it's a good look at their dev studios.

I was so hyped up for Lair before the reviews came in. After they came in i was so freakin disappointed. I don't know what his point was but mine is this; Don't let them hype a game that doesn't work ever again. And spare me on that "Oh you just need to get used to the controls first" bullsh*t. The game had it's strengths but the controls ruined it. That said, I think what we're going to see from Sony is worth getting exited about, they have learned their lesson.

You do know they fixed the six-axis only controls with a patch and allowed for analog stick controls, right? I played all the way thru with the motion controls, I guess I "got use to them". Not the best game ever made, but was way better than the reviews I saw. So, if the controls were a problem, rent the game now, download the new controls, and play thru it, that is, if you were really that excited about it.

Sony does have a lot of potential exclusives, but that website was a little off:

"David Jaffe’s Eat Sleep Play- Three exclusive games for Sony, and Twisted Metal is not one of them."

I thought that Twisted Metal for PS3 was already confirmed by Jaffe, but this site is saying that Twisted Metal is "NOT" one of the 3 exclusive games from Eat, Sleep, Play?

"Ted Price’s Insomniac - a new studio in Georgia is said to make brand new games for Sony. I wonder…."

I heard about a new studio from Insomniac in North Carolina, but NOT Georgia.

Well, that site definantly has a few misprints.

Anyways, there's one potentially BIG game that they left off, and it's a game that I've noticed a lot of people are forgetting about, the 3rd party exclusive from Digi-Guys, WARDEVIL. That game looks like it could be another God of War 3, and currently it has a 2009 release, and they released a trailer earlier this year... but many people didn't really get too much from the trailer... still, that game looks like it could be pretty incredible.

I like how Sony deals with stuff. Make a lot of first party games until the third parties start to get the hang of cell and then tone it down. Great plan.

Xi that's 6 vs. 19+ First and 2nd party developers (I don't think NCsoft was mentioned). You don't even need to do the math. 13 extra exclusive games per year to compete against is next to impossible in any game book. Every ONE of MS's games would have to be a 8.5 or above to stand a chance. You are looking at a difference in library content of 52+ titles by the end of year 4. To top that off, everyone of studios are seasoned (with the exception of Media Molecule). MS is already discounted in my book. The fact that they are holding off bungie's announcement for Leizpeg tells me their books are thin.

Primal is a REALLY cool game.

the graphics, characters, atmosphere, and gameplay are all quite good.

it's a shame that it got under-appreciated (like Ghosthunter; developed by Sony, published by Namco), simply because the main character is a hot goth chick, instead of a big titted bimbo who shoots stuff.

the gamestore across the street has Primal for $4 used, as do Blockbuster Videos and so on, so i'm sure, whether you live in the US or not, you can find this game for cheap. at that price, it's certainly worth picking up (try Ghosthunter too. it's like Ghostbusters, starring Nathan Drake as the main character. lol. i say this because the main character reminds me of Nathan Drake from Uncharted. he's voiced by the guy who played Raphael in the 80's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoons. lol. it's also a pretty cheap game).

i'd love to see a sequel to Primal and Ghosthunter, as well as Colony Wars, and War of the Monsters. all those games rocked. throw in Alundra sequels, Sony, and i'm good.

Whatever it will be it's going to be a FPS, bet money on it. That's all Sony knows anymore. They can't toss a dime towards securing a good or even decent RPG or Adventure game. It's all about the FPS for Sony and all in hopes they can get the one FPS that will finally be able to top Halo.

It's a joke really. Before too long Sony is going to require everything be made FPS just to best Halo. That's why the only thing good about the ps3 right now is the PSN. It's even better than the disc based games Sony has for us.
