I see a Final Fantasy VII enhanced remake announcement for PSN. Not a fully fledged remake, but just touches to Final Fantasy VII to make it in HD with clarity and no jaggies but keeping its classic look. I see this more doable than making a fully fledged remake as that would take more time and cost.

Thank you Square Enix for bringing this game to the 360. I couldnt bring myself to buy a Ps3 for just one game, but I have been wanting to experience a New un tainted Final Fantasy title, unlike FF11 that was a port from a last gen system. Now I get to play FF13 and Lost Odyssey on the same console, this is a great time for gaming.

OH yeah and I know youre going to do something with DLC for xboxlive.

Honestly, the execution of this is the DUMBEST thing i have ever seen a company do.

Ok what do they gain?

They gain access to the 360 user base. What? 20 (not sure on up to date figures, dont really care) million consoles, - maybe a few thousand dual 360 console households, - lets be generous and call it 5% hardware failures, - % of people who own a 360 and dont like JRPG's, - people who also own a ps3 and will buy it on ps3.

Now consider that month in month out the ps3 outsells the 360 in every region (although we may as well call it even in the US), despite the fact that the 360 can be purcased for less than the price of a wii.

After considering all of this, the way in which this news was broken to the public is near on suicide for Square Enix.

Im guessing that they can kiss all support from sony good bye. I mean, sony have that many in house studios that after ff13 is released, it wouldnt suprise me if they told square to go f*ck themselves. They gave MS the biggest bomb shell that they possibly could (bar ff13 being 360 exclsuive), they gave Sony no warning, no opportunity to counter the offer that im sure MS made, gave them no opportunity to prep something equally as big for E3, and pretty much gave MS all the ammunition that they need to publicly humiliate Sony.

Hell. Talk about burning bridges.

Honestly, FFVII is the only FF game that i have finished. From what i have heard people say, and judging from Squares questionable financial situation the FF series hasnt been the big cash-cow that square wants it to be for some time. Im sure that had ff13 remained exclusive, or even a secretly timed exclusive, sony would have had some interest in keeping square enix afloat, either buy funding exclusives or buying them out. However now im inclined to think that sony wouldnt give two f*cks.

I would hope that a buy out offer was on the table from ms during these discussions because if ff13 flops, i guarantee you, square will be the next sega.

1UP: Has there been any negative reaction from Japanese Xbox 360 owners about the FFXIII announcement? It's not coming out on 360 there, and Japanese gamers won't be able to play the U.S. import on their systems, since the console's region-locked.

SH: There doesn't seem to be any overly negative feedback yet, as Japanese users have known since the beginning that it's coming to PS3.

I personally don't care about FF on the 360. But one thing for sure is this cements the 360 as the best choice for Jrpg's.

Of course it won't delay the JP release. That is the first version to come out! What I'm worried about is the port delaying the US release (cause a port obviously takes longer than a localization, especially a localization that starts months ahead of the port, and Squeenix said they were aiming for a simultaneous release)... If that happens, Square will lose a lot of their fanbase including me. I've waited years for this game, damned if I wait an extra year because of Squeenix's ass backwards development plan. If you want to port something, OUTSOURCE IT IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE MANPOWER TO DO IT!!!!

After Kitase said this, I just know that the 360 version wont see the light of day for a LONG time:

"People may be under the impression that it's a total package that only needs to be tweaked a little bit in order to port the game to 360, but that's not the case -- we still have to fix it to make it more platform-specific."

The U.S. PS3 version of FFXIII will probably come out 6 months after the Japanese launch, and then by the time Europe gets FFXIII for the PS3, that's probably when the game will be almost ready for the 360. I would imagine that it would take SquareEnix around a year to port the game to the 360 after finishing up development on the PS3 version first.... I think that it's possible that the 360 version might not be out until 2010 at least.

And it's good to know that the 360 version wont be affecting the superior PS3 version.

I'm really anxious about an FFVII remake announcement. I just particularly hate the idea of that game going to 360. And while have many reasons why i think it wouldn't, i had similar reasons for FF13. FF7 is different though, the big failsafe reason it will never go to 360 is because Sony owns the rights to the franchise. Plus, this isn't just another Final Fantasy, this is Final Fantasy VII and it has very strong ties with PlayStation. I really don't think 360 will be seeing this one, and its the least SE could do to make up for FF13. I say "least", but if a PS3 FF7 remake was announced, it would absolutely cancel out the effect of FF13 going multiplatform. Believe it

My guess is that the announcement for the DKS3713 event is another sequel for the compilation of FFVII as the story still has some loose ends and they have said before that the compilation isnt necessarily complete
