If you said Japan, you thought correct. This still being exclusive in Japan is HUGE. This game will still sell consoles in the far east. It's also good for Sony that it stays exclusive in Japan since, allowing this game to release on the 360 in Japan could have been a tidal swing for the system as well.

It's going to hurt, but I think this is being overblown. I think the loss of GTA was worse than this. Especially since, GTA is a bigger console seller in the states.

Plus ... as Sonarus said, they've survived everything so far.

You sum it all up. That was their main keynote (yes, I know, there's more to come), and all they could do is confirm what we already knew (like the exact date for Gears) or the progress on Fallout and Fable. That was truly mind boggling. I was amazed.

So basically, the only new stuff they came up with,(not counting FF) was a new dashboard (long, long overdue) and netflix (I guess just in case your cable box or pc is broken).

I really hope for Microsoft that the next time they get on stage, they have more to show up. (and somehow, I do think they do though)

ps3 isnt dead but it might be on life support after this. Like it or not that was a HUGE MASSIVE blow to sony. Star ocean 4 is already a 360 exclusive The only good news to come out of this is that they are not porting FF13 to the 360 in japan. MS has gotten almost every big 3rd party title that was once exclsuive to ps to go over to the 360 camp. The only one that they didnt get is MGS4 (then again that could just be a matter of time).

3The title does little to be anything but slanderous. The game never left the Plaform. from what has been gathered, the PS3 is way ahead with development. exclusive release in japan, and then localizations will commence after it's shipped in EU and NA, the 360 version will take development. this game is a 1 year timed exclusive that i'm sure Sony will likely announce. This game is still a Playstation game that wont show it's face till after the PS3 version is out. So i find this article faling just by the title. indeed this is a huge blow to Sony but nothing crippling by any means. sony still gets this game long before the xbox and Sony Better use that to there advantage.

Still i'm in shock that they got so carless, yes they survived GTA4 and they survived DMC4, they hung onto MGS4, but even that isn't anywhere near as big as FF, and they let the main series become multiplat. Kaz harai has gone nuts. You should know first hand That you cant win with just first party alone. yes your first party is magnificent and you have some unbelievable talent amongst your 20 first party studios but Damn It look what happen to nintedo, Sony didn't you learn.

This is the franchise that made you what you are. Kaz Kaz kaz yo need to look and re evaluate your stance as president of Sony Computer entertainment.

Final Fantasy versus is only exclusive for the Moment, and thats because that game is on the back burner to get teh PS3 version of the Main series out First. i'm sure as work wraps up on versus They will announce it multiplat, unless sony steps in and agrees to fund it and such.

oh well. strike 2 for sony, let the next one slip and they will have run out completely.

Final Fantasy is still a PS3 exclusive in Japan. They are only releasing the game on XBOX 360 in english speaking countries.

When SOCOM comes out, you are going to see a massive increase in PS3 sales in the US and Canada. Not to mention Killzone 2 and Resistance 2.

At the end of the day Final Fantasy will still come out on the PS3 and on one disc.

Sure it's a big change to see FF go multiplat but is it enough to kill a console? No, it's not and it's more than likely not enough to spurr on huge sales for the 360 since it will only get a English version on the 360 and not a Japanese release on any other console bu the PS3. They are helping out the Westerners in giving them a 360 version since the 360 has the larger install base in the West. It is a good business move for an expensive game.

Sony still has the bigger install base int he region where FF will sell more copies. I can see why they had no issues with this, especially since they own 10% of SE and didn't want to take a hit in stock price.

I agree with this article. The PS3 still has a long life ahead of it and so far it's survived GTA and Devil May Cry going multiplatform and still is selling far faster than the 360 ever did. Final Fantasy going multiplatform certainly isn't going to hamper my enjoyment of the game.

Other then the FFXIII announcement Microsoft's conference was filled with info we've already heard and mostly boring footage. Even ign said that other then the announcement nothing was groundbreaking and that sony could have walked away with the win if not for wada coming back out.

Then again he did so things have changed a bit, but Sony has never been one to rely on past franchises like Nintendo. They're always trying to capitalize on new IPs and I believe it'll be the same thing this generation as well.

Because remember. The ps2 jump started a lot of the franchises that microsoft now believes gives them the upper hand.

In the end does it matter the 360 is getting A VERSION? No. People like G4 are making it out to be huge. But it won't be a system seller for people that own all those PS1 and PS2 FF titles. At the end of the day, FF titles have a fairly narrow appeal.

Square said a long time ago that 'games based in the FFXIII universe will find its way to other platforms'...what is unclear is whether or not identical versions are going be released...or if it is some sort of spin-off (FFXIII: the blah blah blah something or other)...

Square publically announced that resources had been shifted to the PS3 version of the game to speed up development...and that that had slowed Versus XIII to a near hault currently...the entire PR statement focused on "getting the absolute most out of the PS3 first, then focusing on other titles"...this was just days ago...

I am only pointing this out in the sense of giving Sony a chance to retaliate...I know 360 fanboys are absolutely unmatched in calling victory before the fight even starts...there is little chance that Sony doesn't have just as big of a FFXIII announcement ready...what is one thing bigger than the 360 getting FFXIII?...Sony saying just 24 hours later that its not the 'true' version...

either way...will be interesting to see...and what about the FFVII stuff?...Sony owns some publishing rights to that game (seeing as how each FF is considered its own IP, I would assume Sony held on to some of it)...we'll see tomorrow...but its too early to know just how much Sony lost just yet...

it is really funny that the best news coming out of the MS conference was having a PS3 game, somehow sad.
And now because FFXIII is coming to 360 a year or so after the PS3 version the PS3 is dead??? are you serious?? I think I understand their excitement as looking at their future exclusive games is kind of boring.
So if the PS3 is dead because of this, the the 360 died a long time ago when Lost Planet came to PS3 and now Bioshock too, rumors say Lef4Dead is coming too. In fact the 360's been going down since the RROD.

So..if I only had 2 exclusive good games to look forward to and one of those was FF13 I would say the PS3 is dead but there are many more like MS2,Resistance2, LBP, KZ2, J&D, FFV13, GOW3 and others..unlike the 360 that has Gears2 and Fable2(they say its good) and..and..umm..Banjo???(they f@ked up this game)Halo Wars??(Command And Conquer with Halo name to sell well) Too Human?(according to Kotaku and the people who have played it, it sucks big time)

I think the right question here would be..Is the 360 dead in the water?is It struggling to survive with just a couple of good exclysive games? Is releasing the console one year before the PS3 the only thing keeping it alive and having support from other companies? What's after Gears Of War 2 and Fable? FFXIII in two years?

There is no way shape or form that one game is gonna destroy or make a console that much better . The original xbox had halo which is that time was an amazing game and there wasnt a game like it but yet it didnt make a huge load of people buy an xbox which is obvious because microsoft didnt support it for long. PS3 has ton of excellent games that are coming out other than FF which i'm a huge fan of. I'm pretty sure that FF isnt gonna sale as many copies as MGS4 because there are more shooter and action adventure fans than RPG fans especially here in the US which is why Square Enix made their decision to make it multiplatform to pull more US consumers into RPG's. Sadly it's still gonna sell really well on the PS3 so how does that make it dead in water? If it was completly only on 360 then yes this would be a huge blow to the PS3. There is a more rpg fan base in japan and PS3's sold so i can promise you that this isnt gonna be as a big deal as people are making it out to be. I have both systems but i will be buying FF on the PS3 like a million other players. That's where it really took off so it would be un-traditional for me to be playing it on my 360..this news is being very overhyped and anyone who thinks sony doesnt have something up their sleeve as well is very stupid and we'll see today at E3......**Gamers Live and Die...and Live Again**

will do for the MS in the west is more PROD and get the x360 trolls to give money to Sony via Square. FF13 will only sell to existing x360 trolls because people will buy the PS3 for FF13 because the PS3 version is the lead and will come on less disc lol. x360 is dead in Japan.
