Even with the new island setting, Harvest Moon is pretty well-worn territory: You grow plants, ranch animals, enter competitions, get hitched, and spawn offspring. Island of Happiness promises to be the biggest handheld iteration yet, with more than 100 characters (including 30 primary characters), new types of crops, and more advanced crop rules. Sunlight and rainwater can now affect crops, so, for example, if a tomato plant receives too much rain, the resulting product will suffer as a result. If you opt to use a B-grade tomato for a pasta sauce to enter in a cooking contest, your competition performance will suffer accordingly."
