PS3 Fanboy: "The announcement was heard all around the world: Final Fantasy XIII on Xbox 360? No way! Well, today's Square Enix E3 press conference clarified a few details. First: Final Fantasy XIII is still a PS3-exclusive ... at least in Japan. According to Kotaku, Square Enix exec Shinji Hashimoto told reporters: "I think you are right [in assuming that (the Xbox 360 version) is not coming out in Japan.]" It will only appear on Xbox 360 in English-speaking territories.
In addition, Final Fantasy XIII will release in Japan first -- and then will be localized for the international audience. That means Japanese gamers will enjoy FFXIII on PS3 long before the rest of the world will see it go multiplatform. Hashimoto says that the Xbox 360's large install base in English territories is what led to the decision to make the game multiplatform. Because the decision was recent, there's no way of estimating how many discs the Xbox 360 version will be.
Also, Final Fantasy Versus XIII is still in development as a PS3 exclusive."
"Square Enix’s “Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Extended Talk Show” will begin shortly.
The live stream, as its name suggests, is an extended version of the “Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Talk Show” from the Tokyo Game Show. And unlike its name suggests, it will cover not only Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, but Final Fantasy XV and Final Fantasy Agito, as well."-Gematsu
New details:
- Holding defend to evade drains MP, doesn't last forever.
- The attack button is used for basic combos, weapons used are context driven based on equipped weapons and context settings the player selects.
- The skill button is used to do special attacks for the main weapon equipped.
- There will be advanced evasion and attack techniques depending on equipment and control input.
- You can use the sword barrier defensively in battle, you can do short warps in the battlefield, you can parry attacks.
- There will be lots of tactical aspects in battle for core games, like elemental weaknesses and so on.
- Noctis is the only playable character, but his unique combat style and how the party interacts with him in battles is what drives the entire battle system.
Final Fantasy Union: "This is a question that has been asked by Western gamers for quite a few years now, but we still sit no closer to having an answer than we did when Final Fantasy Agito XIII was first announced during E3 2006. Yes, you heard me, it has been that long since the fated announcement of the Fabula Nova Crystallis franchise.
A lot has happened since then. We have, of course, now seen the release of Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII (under the guise of Final Fantasy Type-0). We have also seen the release of Final Fantasy XIII sequels, in the form of Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, as well as the recent release of Final Fantasy Agito as it was originally intended."
In recent years, the Final Fantasy series on PlayStation systems has been somewhat quiet in terms of new releases, but 2013 changes all that by bringing us the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. - PSLS
Never been a fan of the series but I do wonder how the sales figures went throughout the series.
hahaha the xbox 360 players are already roasting and sonys conference hasnt begun
i feel betrayed by Sony, i feel like i waisted money on the ps3. I have mix emotions right now, i kinda wanna just sell my ps3. I am so upset for spending 600 dollars. Sony just blew it, they will lose a lot of fans because of this. I mean they could have at least got it as a timed exclusive.
You know what? I'm actually not even bothered by this news. Honestly. Because:
- Xbox 360 isn't even getting this game till a long time after ps3 owners.
- FFXIII is still exclusive to PS3 in Japan
- And i thinnk they will still use the power of the ps3 like they said before. But will somehow find a way after the ps3 version is developed to find a way god only knows how to fit it on the 360.
So all in all, FFXIII should be as good a game as it was originally meant, and ps3 hardware sales should basically be whatever they were going to be anyway.
So this nonsense about FFXIII going to 360 won't effect ps3 much at all. 360 owners, get used to waiting haha
Comfort food! You need all the reassurance you can get I know its been a hard day for you fishheads. My condolences @#1 in the Open Zone there seems to be a lot of that today!
Square-Enix ain't getting another penny from me.
I don't give a rats ass if Versus is PS3 exclusive. SE is history in my book, just like Capcom.
I almost exclusively buy 1st party titles anyway.
