"No reboot" to The Agency as staff leave

Oli Welsh from Eurogamer writes:

"Eurogamer has learned that several senior staff have left Sony Online Entertainment's Seattle studio - the developer currently making espionage MMO The Agency for PC and PS3 - including the studio head.

Studio director and executive producer Matt Wilson, art director Corey Dangel, and producer John Smith left at the start of July to form a new studio called Detonator Games, as confirmed at the Detonator Games website."

1 - Hmmm.
I hope this doesn't change the quality of the game in a major way or anything, I am looking forward to this.

1.1 - Likely not; The staff probably was finished with their part of the project or not needed at that time
Just like when Jaffe left to make Made Eat, Sleep, Play; it's very unprofessional to just walk out, but it does happen like that problem with Itagi's staff (sp?)

*EDIT* This is Lame and I reported it as such:

they left started the company July 4th, and never said they were currently working on or even worked on The Agency in their roles for the Agency: one person specifically said he was hired to start the studio and he SHIPS games, so his role in The Agency would not affect anything at this time. The Art Director and Technical Director (the other two) also have limited roles past a certain point.

I'm getting to the point where I'm starting to report Eurogamer and Edge articles on sight, when run into them, of course. This is shoddy journalism at best.

1.2 - It's already way too much advanced...
And remember, all those guys are mostly number crusher, not programmers. The art director may be missed a bit, but again, it's easy to assume that most of the art guidelines are already done.

For me, it's probably a good news. Those guys were not happy with their salary and whatever cut they were getting on the game. Now, if they had any doubt that this game would suck, they would not have formed a new company since their product will be associated to this game (if it suck, their company will have a hard time selling games). On the other side, they are quite likely betting on the fact that the game will be awesome, so no matter what game they come out with, they will be associated with it, and gain great advertising from that. (And sure enough, now, they can decide what salary they make, and how much kickback they get from games they will produce...).

I don't care if it changes the quality as long as it's for the better.

For a moment I had this title confused with Rockstars 'The Agent'

I've been interested in this since they first showed it. The title here made me think that the game had been cancelled or something.

I've got a really bad feeling about this game now in spite of the PR.

It is a little scary when something like this happens. Especially when it is the head guys.

It would be one thing for the game to be nearly released (i.e. going gold or somewhere close to that step)and these staff then left, but it's a whole other story with them leaving right in the middle of production/development. That either means the game will soon be canned, which sucks, or will possibly switch studios to finish the job, but under SOE supervision. If that's the case, don't expect it to come out as it was intended. I just have a real bad feeling about this...

7 - Prior to that, they, along with several other SOE Seattle staff, worked at Microsoft on the cancelled MMO Mythica.
sounds like these guys should stay out of the MMO business

Oh, I read the title and thought it was cancled. Think god it is not. Only a few seniors leaving. This could be good. I mean, if they or Sony think they're not good enough, then new, better, more well suited people is always welcome.
