Tetsuya Nomura Discusses Kingdom Hearts' Past, Present

How did the concept behind Kingdom Hearts, one of Square Enix's most successful new concepts in recent years, come about? "I don't remember the details, but I was talking with [current Square Enix corporate executive] Shinji Hashimoto and Hironobu Sakaguchi," producer Tetsuya Nomura told Famitsu magazine in an interview. "The topic came up that it'd be nice if we could make a game with Disney. I had been wanting to make an original action RPG by that time, and I had had the basic game system for KH in my mind for a while by that point. I thought it'd be a good opportunity for me, so I raised my hand and told them to let me handle it."

Very smart guy, especially the part about people only wanting to play big name games. People only seem to want FFXIII and Versus from Square Enix right now, which is a pity because their other games are awesome!

True, but a lot of their other games are crap. He is one of my favorite Devs. Everything he touches is just so well put together. FFvsXIII is truly going to be epic.

Well they do have some rubbish games but not as many as people think. Whilst people will say The Last Remnant that's one out of god knows how many(over 50) since the start of this gen.

If you avoid all but the main FFs(and Versus for some strange reason), KH and DQ you're missing a lot of quality games but only a few bad games.

EDIT: It depends how high your standards are of course though as many people didn't like Infinite Undiscovery or Star Ocean IV but I think they're enjoyable(but not great).

I've played Star Ocean TLH and to tell you the truth not impressed at all. It was decent at best and sure it didnt have the technical issues like the others but coming from SE my expectation is much higher. I've never checked out IU but might have too.
