Damn. I knew I shouldn't have got excited about the idea of a new SOCOM. Should've figured Zipper would have their hands full with MAG for a lil while now to be working on one.

ND usually start a new IP every generation of consoles. Last gen was Jak and this gen it's Uncharted. Though I guess that another dev could make a new Jak, but then it wouldn't be nearly as epic.

Although I di not think a new SOCOM is in development - other than FTB 3, I wouldn't be so quick to discount the idea of a new Syphon Filter. The website's posting may have been an error but I would hazard to guess that somewhere in Sony they are working on a new SF. It may only be in the design stage but I have no doubt it is getting the once over.

I was a fan of the Syphon Filter PS3 w/ Killzone 2 engine rumor that popped up a while back. I will lose my sh!t if they announce a PS3 Syphon Filter, and it feels almost inevitable that they will. Syphon Filter 1 and 2 completely dominated my PS1 playtime when I was young, followed very closely by Metal Gear Solid, Crash Bandicoot 1-3, and that Alien Trilogy FPS for some reason. The PS2 SF was pretty crappy but both PSP entries have been top-notch and the gameplay and objectives were more fun and varied than a lot of console shooters are now. The Sony Bend people are more than capable, especially with that internal server full of things like Uncharted's source code and everything Guerrilla has done. *fingers crossed*

Yea, I don't think I really expected there to truly be a new SOCOM game coming. In the back of my mind I knew this would've been false speculation. I guess I was more just hoping really. Cause I would absolutely LOVE a new SOCOM with campaign right now. That was one of my favorite franchises last gen. I bet Zipper could make an amazing tactical shooter to carry over the franchise on PS3 too. But it is understandable that they have their hands full with this potentially revolutionary MAG.

Really want a Syphon Filter for the PS3. I enjoyed playing the the 4 player co-op in The Omega Strain. Very fun game.

7 - As far as i'm concerned
that's too many mistakes. First amazon has a socom 4 listing now this. I believe it's just sony not wanting to announce anything yet. Anyway I really want my Syphon Filter 4 ps3 fix. I really hope something is officially announced soon. New Sony franchises are getting sequels and I still have no Syphon Filter. Not saying I don't like the new Franchises but come on.

BS,they are backpeddling. Syphon filter 5 is pretty much real,that site that posted it is reliable and it makes sense. Many rumors back that games existence up. We might see a reveal this fall similar to uncharted 2 last year. As for SOCOM 4,that's real too because i remember an interview at ign about socom:combined assault and zipper said they didn't want to call socom:CA, socom 4 because it's a side game and they wanted to save the 4 for another time. Also there was an article back in 2007 that there was 2 socom's in development if you remember.

No SF5 is BS! They should've told us on day 1 that this was wrong. They've kept us hyped for too damn long. Don't they read news on the internet??? Anyway, I still hope they give us a new Syphon Filter ASAP! Need to play a stealth game until Peace Walker and Rising hit the shelves.
