Red Steel 2 the "best reason to own a Wii MotionPlus"
19
Nintendodpad:
"Swordfighting was one of the many genres shown during the launch of the Wii, but for the most part it has been a grueling test for devs to produce a proper swordfighting game. Wii MotionPlus can change all of this, adding the precision needed to make swordfighting feel like the real thing.
Red Steel 2 takes full advantage of this, and creative director Jason Vandenberghe thinks this may just be what Wii owners are looking for."

This, Tiger Woods, and WiiSports Resort are all three that wii owners should be looking out for if they want better controls with MotionPlus.
Wonder why we haven't heard anything on more Motionplus games coming out?

I've heard from a bunch of previews that the game isn't controlling very well at some spots. That, coupled with the fact that it's not using TRUE 1:1, put a real drain on the game for me. I hope that at least the first issue is fixed by the time it releases, but its release is so soon...

The movement is translated exactly 1:1 but it does have a slight delay when registering the shots in real time.
I wish this could be fixed to, but then again it doesn't release till November I do believe and I hope they atleast try to do the best they can with the problem.

The sword swinging in Red Steel 2 is not even 1 to 1. Only when you're just holding the sword does it map 1 to 1. The swings are pre-scripted according to angle and velocity. Red Steel is the least reason to own a Wii Motion Plus. The Sony PS3 motion controller demonstrated real 1 to 1 sword combat.

Yup, essentially what menoyou said. It's not a matter of whether or not it can be done, because Wii Sports Resort goes to show that you CAN map 1:1 sword motions. It's just another instance of Ubisoft being effing lazy and stupid. What a goddamn terrible gaming company.

Smack,
I don't think Ubi had a problem doing it all 1:1, but rather that due the action with in the game it could become much less accurate on how you hit the enemie.
I don't think its fair to call them off as lazy as their visuals for this title are pretty impressive, and gameplay looks much better compared to the first one. Perhaps its done on purpose to prevent some stuff that could break the whole sword fighting experience?
In wii sports resort, non of the characters are behaving like those in redsteel.

menoyou wii resort has 1:1 sword fighting for sure and it even has movement also.
I have not tried tiger yet except a short time at a co-workers house. But red steel 2 and the ubi guys believe in dumbing down things some times. They may be doing this to make thing fair though because the AI could truly could crush you in a sword fight. Have you ever play fought a martial artist with unsharpen practice swords very painful and sudden. LOL you could play for 4 hours and not see a guy in the corner of you eye and get taken out in 2 seconds LOL.
Red steel will not be the last sword game to come out it will have some competition. I'm finding I like HVS FPS set up better than retros... it's all in how you code stuff though.

I think the new concept for Red Steel 2 is great.I just hope that Ubisoft doesn't rush RS2 like they did with the first Red Steel

I hope ubi soft is taking a look at why we love the conduit first. Seriously every one working on Wii games right now needs to be playing this game. Any FPS that comes out after this game will have to live up to what they did. Yet ubi has a great art style here. Some thing tells me they will not beat HVS though and on top of that they have now online.... maybe sega will make a shinobi game with 1:1 sword and star throwing?

-_- FYI, I didn't give you that disagree, I don't use the agree/disagree system because I hate it.
WTF?! I thought Punch Out used Motion Plus?! Hm, my mistake, but I use the sideways controls anyway, but wow, you would think that Nintendo would future proof PO for that?

Why? Punch-Out!! iisn't exactly a game that requires precision. There's basically 4 locations to attack, and 3 directions to dodge. Making it compatible with Motion+ would just be tacking it on.
