NetEase Counts Down to Starcraft II Beta?

StarcraftWire.net reports that NetEase, the Blizzard-appointed distributor of StarCraft 2, Diablo 3 and WoW in China are holding a countdown for some game with graphics very similar to Blizzards.

Combined with Blizzard representatives in China engaging the Chinese fansite community in the last week, it seems likely to be a countdown for the Chinese StarCraft 2 beta. There's currently no official information when the Beta might start in the West.

Hmm, I don't know if Blizzard would have let China of places know first if I'm being honest...

well why not? Starcraft is played alot among the Asian community so why not release there first? Don't get me wrong I could be WAY off about it being the date... I hope it is but

Considering that StarCraft 2 most likely will make the most money in China, it's likely.

I mean, even if a much lower percentage of gamers in china plays than anywhere else, the amount of games sold/subscribed to will still be a LOT higher.

Really doubt this is the beta. I'd love to be wrong, though.

I wouldn't say I didn't have my doubts, that's for sure.

The graphics are very similar to the ones on WWI, that has to be said...

I don't think it's the SCII beta either, but I'm keeping my hopes up! ^_^

It's very unlikely to be sc2.

xyx could be a lot of things, but nothing closes to Starcraft. And I don't think NetEase would do a count down for that.

163,aka NetEase, like to use aabbreviation of a game to name its second-level domain. For example, wow.163.com, it's the website for World of Warcraft. In the domain name, xyx.163.com, xyx could be a abbreviation of many Chinese character combinations, but none of them is close to Starcraft.

The background music is not Starcraft style at all, not even close.

NetEase won't suddenly open a site with count down for Starcraft when they didn't update their official Chinese Starcraft 2 site (starcraft2.com.cn) for more than a year? Also it's unlikly for them to know the fixed date of the beginning of SC2 beta.Even they do, they won't dare to open up a count down so hastily.
