The first part of these two was really good. Kalos usually delivers...

Yeah, whenever I have time, I try to read them. He writes a bit weird... o.O I kind of like it, or I am not sure, it's different!

Funny you should say that, since Kalos is the guru for all things technical. If you need a hand in looking over your set at home (and if it's up to SC specs), just ask him in his little forum. Just feed him Chocolate fingers, and all will be well...

Hopefully they can add all these art upgrades without needing to boost the sys specs :)

Chocolate fingers could very shortly become the next great stable currency to invest in: Buy now, else they could very well be mine, and devoured!

I know they'll work hard, and I doubt they'll compromise on the desire for low systems requirements just to tart the game up, Blizzard have always been very effecient at what they do.

@ Terrice: Yes, that is the only big Crux, isn't it. We'll see about that.

O.O chocolate fingers?

Yea, people will have to get better machines to play this. If i7 X58 computers weren't so expensive. $300 each piece hurts.

Well, with these kind of games there is running the game and beeing able to play it competively with large armies. Not sure where the border lies between the two for this game.

Speaking of large numbers of units: I am really happy with the demo's I have seen thus far in which they show hundreds of units battle it out. My fear of a second Warcraft 3 (small amounts of units) does not seem to become a reality here :D

The game in general or the drone/lobster thing? :D

The drone/lobster thing is obviously a merge between the old and new models. A bit clever, actually ;)

It's ok. It would not have been possible without Blizzards amazing graphics in the first place, ofc...

Some of those really do look good. Looks like the time is being well-spent.

Yeah, I'm glad Blizzard have given the art team enough time to not just do the work satisfactorily, but go back over and upgrade most of it all over again. Shows they want this game to shine.

I would think it to get a little repetitive for the art designers to have to redo various models over and over. Though they probably get used to it, and might even get some satisfaction out of it.

Really? If I was the art designer, I'd be really happy to let my true skills out rather than going with "comicy" stuff..

It just shows that one should not take the earlier art as any indication of what the game will look like when complete. These new models are looking very good.

Indeed, the Drone is the perfect example of how earlier art work, that some critics started using as a basis for giving Starcraft II flak for looking too cartoony and a Warcraft 3 Clone were basing their opinions on placeholder graphics, the less brilliant stuff is being phased out.

They probably used that design in order to have a smooth playtesting. Remember they started this like 5 years ago. Even power PCs were a lot weaker then!

If they got unlimited time in a stasis box, I think we'd be looking at the sun, lol. You can only polish something SO much...

I think its interesting to see how the organic development cycles of the Blizzard team actually work. We're able to see more details then ever before, even though its not even close to all that is changing ;)

Alpha keys are not possible to come by unless you work with the dev team at Blizzard, basically. Beta keys are getting more and more available, though!

8 - Cinematics team
I wonder how much of these upgrades have been done under the influence of Blizzards' cinematics team. I understood they operate company wide, but had a special involvement in the development of the ingame graphics for Starcraft 2 as well!
