Confirmed: Infinity Ward Developing Call of Duty 6 for 2009

Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith today confirmed that Call of Duty creator Infinity Ward, which most recently handled Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, will return to the franchise next year with Call of Duty 6.

...i'll welcome that with open arms. Are you guys forgetting that there are two different developers on the game, leap frogging with two years to develop? So it's not like madden, where they can't do much with it in a year and just update it. I mean from CoD2 to CoD4 was only two years for infinity ward and look what they did with that. And when Call of Duty 5: Future Warfare comes out in '09 (not world at war), i'm sure it will be another great improvement.

Agreed. Infinity ward created C.O.D, and the best in the series have always been made by them. Every time Treyarch get their hands on it, its the poorer version of the game, i.e. cod 3 sucked. 1 and 2 were great, Version 4 was great, hopefully they can do the same with 6, i'll skip Treyarch with number 5 thank you very much.

jesus.... 2009? im worried that the quality will be left in the dust for the name on the box. IW havent let people down yet, but 2009? that seems a bit premature, and while FPS' dont change a whole lot so IW could easily just switch out environments / enemy placements / enemies and whatnot, this just has me feeling uneasy for how quick it is coming.

I hope IW do a great job and i hope people do enjoy the game, i personally am skipping WaW because im sick of WWII, so if this is futuristic sci-fi chances are i'll take a close look at it, but lets hope they dont start a CoD yearly deal like sports games (like everyone has been saying) because that would take away the luster of looking forward to IW's games.

After seeing what a mess COD4 is, I'm actually looking forward to Treyarch's work. Now i really do love COD4 so don't say i hate it or anything like that. I have 18+ days so far. But the i mean the support for the PS3 is just downright horrible. Map Packs, Connection Problems, Getting stuff later than xbox. It's like IW just took a huge dump on the PS3.

I saw Idiocracy and it may come true to an extent. However, there are people that are always improving and people who are progressively becoming more stupid. However, someones spelling ability is not really a good way to judge their intelligence, he could be a genius for all we know. BTW, I wish they would stop releasing these games every year.
