White Knight Chronicles is 'Awakening Soon'

SCEJ and Level-5 have both updated their White Knight Chronicles official page, by adding a text under the main front page image, stating that:
"The days of awakening is coming soon".

I absolutely need this game. Level 5 got me hooked with Dark Cloud 1-2, Rogue Galaxy, and Dragon Quest VIII

Gameplay looked killer months ago, really looking forward to seeing more since it's had some major time to cook. Any information at TGS would be great.

EDIT: GamerMan, you're completely right. I forgot all about Jeanne d'Arc. And I just had it in my PSP last week. Though ive been playin alot of Wipeout to get ready for HD. And you cant forget their Prof Layton series on DS which is pretty good too.

for Level 5...Jeanne d'Arc, best SRPG by far on the PSP as far as I'm concerned. Yes it had some weak strategy boards but it was unique and very fun. It also was their first SRPG as far as I remember

As expected they will probably show this game at TGS, I hope that they announce this game (atleast for Japan) for Christmas 08 and then it should be out everywhere else in early 09 (although if it has eng subs I will probably import it).

Also did anyone else prefer the name White Knight Story? Chronicles sounds cool, but White Knight Story only sounds better.

Yes you are correct it used to be White Knight Story -- now it's White Knight Chronicles... I wonder if that was a typo or if they really did change the name during that year of no news of this game ?

Games like, Dark Cloud, Dark Cloud 2, and Jeanne d'Arc etc. pushed Sony's consoles to the limit. Lets hope that the same will apply to White Knight Story.

Valkyria Chronicles and White Knight Chronicles may confuse the masses, as silly as that seems (hell, people were getting Prototype and inFamous mixed up, and those games are NOTHING alike in any way outside of being sandbox titles).

TGS is Japanese event and games you mentioned are made by Japanese studios, so it is natural that they are shown during TGS, thats how it has been for years.

There is some news leak from Japan biggest discussing website 2ch said the pre-order of WKC begin at Sept. and there is a sub-title for the game, which make it feel like a series.

i know i'm gonna get some disagrees on this, but i'm actually waiting on WKC a little more than i am FFXIII, but i'm a sucker for new IP, so that's probably why. between Rogue Galaxy, DQVIII, Dark Cloud 1 and 2, Level-5 have established themselves as a premier jrpg developer. here's to hoping that a firm US release date is announced soon, and more is shown at TGS. god knows the PS3 needs some solid jrpgs (Enchanted Arms don't count), and WKC could turn out to be the best this generation has seen so far.

Level 5 has never let me down. I liked the Dark Clouds and loved Rogue Galaxy. Dragon's Quest 8 got me back into JRPGs after my interest had waned a little (one of my favorite PS2 games). WKS should be awesome. I wish they went a little more stylized instead of somewhat generic Infinite Undiscovery look but oh well...(still the menus and presentation look better than IU)

Suikoden 3-5 were all made by level 5 anf were among the best RPGs on the platform and sold quite well,

Level 5 is just the kind of RPG company you want developing under your platform.

from Dark Cloud to dragon quest to suikoden to, Jean de arc and countless other games, they are just amazing they are the ones that will; probably be the next gen prolific RPG developer.

Watch and learn Tri-Ace, this is how you do an RPG.

also a few months ago i believe just before Playstation day SCEA had a power point for their fiscal year earnings and showed what they expected by the end of 08 and the titles, along with the reveal that the Video store was launching. among the titles, They showed important games for fiscal year 2008 and among them were motorstorm, Killzone 2 resistance 2 LBP, White Knight Story and Afrika.

and if they showed that for fiscal year as important titles then my guess is, WKS will release here in the states in March 09 before the fiscal year 08 ends for Sony which means a big reveal for the game in TGS is happening and it's gonna be awesome.

yeah. i kinda agree with you on the artistic approach, but i don't think it'll be as bad as IU. i'm really interested to see how Level-5 portray this whole size and scope angle they're going after. that one pic/vid i saw of the tortoise with the town on his back was pretty cool; kinda put me in the mind of Cronos in God of War, when he was crawling around with the temple on his back. pretty epic feeling. i also think it's pretty cool that WKC offers character customization, which i believe is a first for a jrpg. hopefully they reveal more about the story at TGS, or sooner.

you do know that Suikoden started on ps1 and it wasn't made by Level-5 at all right? RIGHT?

I don't think Level 5 had anything to do with the Suikoden series, it's an internal Konami team which used to be lead by Suikoden 2 director Yoshitaka Murayama but after a while of work on Suikoden 3 he left and Noritada Matsukawa took over as Senior Director and I think (I'm not sure) he continued working on Suikoden 4 and 5.
