Diablo 3 at WWI Confirmed, Ask Questions to Diablo Devs

As gamers around the world have noticed, there has been a lot of "high quality rumours" running around on what game Blizzard will announce at WWI this year, reported on numerous sites, as well as N4G as well. Many are "sure" about Diablo 3, and most voices saying that a StarCraft MMO or new IP will come have been squelched.

The Blizzard splash image has also sent fans rampant with speculation on what it can mean, with vocal voices from all three of Blizzard's IPs. Everything from the WoW movie, Lich King-related, StarCraft or Diablo.

Diabloii.net, a 10 year running Diablo fansite, which (at least used to) have contacts inside Blizzard have now proclaimed that it IS indeed Diablo 3 that will be announced at WWI, and are taking questions from fans who would like them answered this weekend.

Oh, My God!

Is this really happening? FINALLY? I can hardly believe it! Still, I mean, I haven't been let down by Diabloii.net before, so...

Please, please, please, please, please, let it be true!

Montrealien5781d ago

I a huge fan of Blizzard since Warcraft : Humans and orcs all I got to say it...F*ck ya!

but if it is true, and it is announced, then we have a whole new can of waiting getting opened, ah, Blizzard, torchering us is YOUR favorite game...lol

Wuushu5782d ago

Alright, time for the thinking cap to come on - thanks :)

SCFreelancer5782d ago

Good question, and its more likely then ever that they might consider this after they fused with Activision. However I think that if this is an option for them that even they don't know yet if it can and/or will be ported to the consoles.

Blizzards' roots are in the console business and they have ventured there a few times more after they released Warcraft: Orcs & Humans. This without to much succes unfortunately :( The latest example beeing Starcraft: Ghost...and we all know what happened to that promising title.

Leord5782d ago

That's a very good point! I agree with the poster above, that the chances of a console adaptation is pretty good. A traditional hack 'n' slash game could also be played with a gamepad, instead of a keyboard. Well, most probably, anyway.

shotputking5782d ago

i actually played the hell out of diablo for the ps1... and that was after i'd played it pretty extensively on the pc... the first one especially translated well to a console environment, and i would hope that diablo 3 could do the same.

iceice1235782d ago

Or a 360 version. Kind of a waste of a question to ask that. This is Blizzard afterall. Wasn't their last console game Starcraft 64...

Charlie26885782d ago

Being with Activision now wont change a single thing or pressure them to do anything they don't want to do, if you recall after they joined forced with Activision they went on record saying that while they are with them now and that would create new windows of opportunities (bla bla) that wouldn't change a thing of there previous practices, pressure or compromise them to do others and after there very big and detailed explanation on why SC2 is not coming to the consoles I highly doubt we should even consider a console port right now specially since the game hasn't even been announce yet -_-

Odion5782d ago

Why would blizzard do it, they'll release it for the PC sell 15 million copies and laugh to the bank

HateBoy5781d ago

I certainly hope so, though I don't find it very likely unfortunately.

Cogo5781d ago

That is definitely a good question. I do indeed think that there might be a possibility for it, with the Activision merger and all...

I wonder if they would be in the same network though, or a separate one for consoles, or even separate for different consoles. If Diablo 3 comes to other medium than PC, I assume they go all the way, and adapt to PS3, Xbox360 and Wii.

EvilJoey5781d ago

Diablo 3's main competion will be AoC? besides there own wow..

AoC is going to xbox... so id say the chances are good!

SilPho5781d ago

If it comes to the PS3, I'll buy it. If it comes to the PC, I'll buy it if I can run it.

Bolts5781d ago (Edited 5781d ago )

Why the hell would they need a PS3 version? There's an entire country that exists only to consume and worthship their games. Its not like there's a pressing need to go multiplat. Plus the installed base fanbase for this franchise 10x higher on the PC.

Awesome! I really can not wait for this weekend. I have a ton of questions as well :)

SCFreelancer5782d ago

Don't forget to submit them since they will be attending the WWI 2008 in Paris (not me unfortunately) and go up and personal with the Blizzard crew!

Leord5782d ago

Another thing I wonder about is if there will be gameplay shown or not... Please, please, please let there be gameplay, not just a cinematic!

Cyberpunk and No Man's Sky have to be up there. We're lucky and cursed, equally, to have games that can be updated now. For folks old enough to remember the Sega/SNES into PS1 and even 2 eras, if a game came out that was half baked (*cough*Angel of Darkness*cough*) that was it, no redemption. At the same time, having the option for updates shouldn't be an excuse for half assing games.

thorstein83d ago

I remember when the Nintendo Seal of Approval meant something.

All those games had to release without bugs.

Comebacks shouldnt be a thing in videogames. Just saying.
