I recently purchased VVVVVV when it was on sale, and let me just start off this review by saying that I would have gladly paid $5.00 for it.
VVVVVV is a arcade puzzle platformer, but it is not what people expect. It's quirky style may be a turn off to some but it adds to the gameplay element very well.
The game is quite simple, you move right or left, and press the action button (z,v, or space) to basically switch gravity as I like to say.
Now this may sound very simple, but don't be fooled, VVVVVV is by no means an easy game.
It is in fact very challenging and will leave you retrying many stages of the game, and you may even rage and quit the game if you don't have the skill to play the game!
The challenge if definitely a great addition to the game. Not many of today's platforming games are very challenging at all. The gameplay in VVVVVV is very simple yet very fun and challenging!
Not only is the gameplay great in VVVVVV, but the graphics are very well done and work with the game's style perfectly. They are definitely not pretty, but by no means are they suppose to be. The graphics add to the game's quirky nature and make the gameplay much more enjoyable.
The sound in VVVVVV is simply awesome. Most stages in the game have different music, and each I enjoy very much. I would sometimes find myself sitting in one spot "rocking out" to the music. I only wish there were more tracks because I noticed that there are not too many.
Overall VVVVVV is a solid arcade title. It is a challenge which puzzle games should be in the first place. It has very simple gameplay mechanics which work very well. And the music in the game is very catchy and adds to the game extremely!
To celebrate the 10 year anniversary of retro indie platformer VVVVV, developer Terry Cavanagh has released the game’s original source code to the public.
It's been quite a long time since this gravity-defying 2D platform adventure initially debuted. So, is VVVVVV still worthwhile after over 7 years or has there been too much dimensional interference?
Developer of challenging games, Terry Cavanagh, gives us a free rogue-like stealth game featuring his unique design ideas in Tiny Heist
I should definitely try this game out myself!
Too bad it seems so short now.
Wth is wrong with this game name?
