Need for Speed: The Run wasn't what I expected it to be. Most of the recent NFS games involved rally racing or organized racing events and your car (for me at least) spins out at the slightest twist of the left stick. The Run brings back the old NFS feel I loved. The feel from Underground, Most Wanted, Carbon, and the old Hot Pursuit (the new one is good as well). The feel that you were an illegal street racer, racing through city streets, high mountain tops and even inside buildings. The feel that at anytime a cop could pop up and you would have to outrun them in order to succeed in your current race or event. And the fact that your car can turn without doing a spin-out. This is what I love about The Run.
The Run is about a guy named Jack Rourke, who is running from the Mob in a cross-country race from San Francisco to New York. You start off having to escape from a car in a junkyard as the Mob tries to kill you. Instantly, your put into a car and have to speed a way from them, whilst dodging bullets and enemy cars trying to put an end to you. You meet up with an old friend of yours who helps you sign up for The Run, which if he wins, will pay off his debt to the Mob. And from that point on, your put into races, battles, and time trials on your way to 1st place from 250th place. Slowly, you make your way up the ranks until you reach New York, ultimately beating the game. The Run is more about the race itself than the story, which is pretty bland to say the least. It even teases a sequel at the end, which I think it doesn't really need.
The Run uses Battlefield 3's Frostbite 2 engine, which does a great job in making the characters look extremely realistic and in making the cars you drive and the environment interact accordingly and look great. Where you have very few parts where the people talk, the voice acting was decent and sounded pretty good compared to most NFS games which very seldom have dialogue at all. The game had a good soundtrack that went good with the game and its events, but it wasn't anything to go crazy about.
There is a very good selection of cars to chose from, ranging from BMWs and Porsches in the beginning of the game to Lamborghinis and Paganis near the end. The cars look great and there are some pretty decent customization options for each one, such as the body kit and color. The customization, however ends there, but its good nonetheless.
There are some things about The Run that I don't like as well. For instance, there is no open-world option or free roam, which I loved in NFS games like Most Wanted and Underground. There is also the fact the fact that the game gets pretty repetitive after the first few stages (which there are 10 of).
Overall, The Run was a fun game and a great NFS. While it had many of the great things that made old NFS games so fun, it lacked in terms of customization and free roam. I would recommend this NFS over previous installments such as Shift 2, Shift, and Pro Street, but it could still be better. If you've been a long term NFS fan or if you just started playing NFS, this is a good game and is very fun and can be beaten within 10 hours.

Most wanted 2012 imo was awful, on PS3 the graphics are dreadful, and the crash cam was very annoying. Rival is the worst imo, hated that game. My favourite is Hot Pursuit, great game. Also Shift 1&2 are really good.
High Stakes will always be my favorite. Great cars, great music, and you could see through the windows which was pretty mind-blowing at the time. Best of all it was ricer-free.
Lame. The list doesn't even include any of the originals. NFS 1 and NFS hot Pursuit 1998. Must be a youngster who created the list.
From my personal experience NFS I personally don't like.......
The Worst : Underground 2 , Carbon, Prostreets, Undercover, Porche unleashed, Nitro, NFS World, 2012 Mostwanted, Rivals, 2015 Reboot last but not least Paycrap.
Best NFS I personally like :
All ps1 NFS : HighStakes (the best) including NFS 3 Hotpursuit , ps2 Hotpursuit 2 (Excellent game ) ..Underground ( Best so far)
2005 Mostwanted ( Excellent game) Shift 1/2 (Spectacular) remind me of GT , 2010 Hotpursuit Great game but race Waaaaaaay to long in my personal opinion . Last but not least The Run . these are my favorite NFS titles .
After The Run in my personal opinion NFS went down hill fast with Open world mapping crap, always online, multiplayer crap, alldrive, drifting in every freaking corners, no gripping anymore, autolog. None of this crapfest is NFS original formula. until Ea contract Ghost Games to return the original formula back in NFS it will always be Shitty game.
You come to right place to know about Top 5 Cool Online Car Racing Games. These "Top 5" are asked from different gamers of different countries and then we create the list of Top 5 Car Games. Remember these games are listed Single-player and Multi-player both. Here is the list:
Wow 4/5 games listed are Need for Speed games. Nice variety...not.
Personally I would add Daytona USA. When that was released on xbox live there was a fairly decent community playing this game.

For Your Amusement is a video series in which I play, Colm Ahern, play a video game for a considerable amount of time, chop up the video into something easily digestible for the lovely YouTube audience and then share it with the entire world, every Friday.
With the Need For Speed film, starring Jesse Pinkman, coming to cinemas soon, I decided to go back to the gem that is Need For Speed: The Run.
