Halo 3: ODST is the worst of the 4 Halo FPS games. Which I'm not saying it's bad, it's just that this iteration of the franchise purposely takes sever steps back in an effort to create less powerful character (since you aren't playing as a Spartan).
This time around you play as several Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (ODST) which is basically the B team who come in after the Spartans. However, as always things go wrong and you and the rest of the group are separated and must find one another to escape.
The story for the last 2 Halo FPS games have been on the weaker side, and this is no exception. It's not that the story is bad, it's just that I couldn't care less about any of the characters. None of them made you want to play the game or entertain you in any kind of way. The voice acting was mediocre, the music was mediocre, the graphics are mediocre (thank goodness reach is using a new engine), and to be honest the gameplay is starting to get stale (the ODST's move to slow and moving around the bigger areas take forever). The campaign isn't all bad the visor is a nice addition to the game. It highlights the environment allowing you to see enemies and allies in dark areas. And the vehicle sequences are really fun and thrilling. But other than that this game is not up to par with the other Halo's and not even co-op can make this bore-fest worth playing.
The Halo games are known for their online greatness, and this game is no exception. You get a second disc with ALL the maps from Halo 3 (which can be a good or a bad thing depending on the person), along with a 3 new ones giving you 24 maps to play from (so sell your copy of Halo 3 unless you really want to keep it). However, the in addition to Halo 3's multiplayer you also get Firefight which is the shining light in this game. Firefight is basically Horde mode for Halo with effects from Skulls randomly activating making things even more difficult. You and 3 other players battle through 10 levels of Grunts, Brutes, Jackals, and Chieftans which increase in difficulty upon completion of each level. The only downside to Firefight is sharing lives, but that can be overlooked as long as you work together.
So that pretty much sums it up. Halo 3: ODST should have been DLC like Bungie wanted, because it's a hard sell for anyone, but the most die hard Halo fan. You have to decide if it's worth spending $60 o a weak campaign, rehashed multiplayer, and great co-op mode (Firefight).

With its smooth jazz and iconic New Mombasa streets, we need Xbox's next Halo game to return to the remarkable world of Halo 3: ODST.
NoobFeed Editor Joshua Burt writes - There are many games in the famous Halo Franchise that are stellar titles and need to be revered. And some that do not. These games stand out from the crowd and deluge of colossal Halo titles. Games that made Halo great. We do need to iron out what qualifies the game for this list. They have to be in the Halo franchise… Obviously.
