"I am bound not by my sword but by Eorzea herself"

Final fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is a game that has had it's ups and downs from the very beginning since the original release. Now more than ever that doubt will no longer be a whitness amongst Final Fantasy players around the world. I am proud to be one of those players who saw this game rise from the ashes and make an impact on the release of the revamped game. Let's dive in and let me show you a different review worth reading, without the bias.

Final Fantasy XIV, is a beautiful game that has come along way from the ashes. When I first started playing this game again several things stood out to me that wasn't in the original game. The music was the first thing that stood out to me. It reminded me of the days of Final Fantasy 7,8,9 and 10. It had that Final Fantasy feel to it that other iterations did not have.
Next was the Characters/Environments in which they looked. Setting my eyes upon Eorzea for the first time was something I was hoping they improved. And yes they delivered that promise and I can't get enough of using emotes and sitting down along cliffs, mountains, rivers, and watching the world change from day to night. By upgrading these elements with the music, it really brought me back to my childhood memories of playing the original games.

The amount of artistic detail they put into the characters was tremendous and satisfying to my eyes. Yet, there is still room for improvement in detailing characters. I believe they have done a good job in this area. Being able to customize your character right down to the very "expression" on their faces, makes me happy. I don't know how many times I couldn't change a voice when it sounded ridiculous.
Adventuring is big in massive, multiplayer, online games and square-enix has always delivered on huge open world environments and this game does not suffer. There is always places to explore and places to see and stuff to do in XIV. Too be honest, I almost find myself getting lost and my map becomes my best friend. Seriously, it will save your life. So use it wisely. The only complaint I have about the map is this. When your on a quest and the mission location is not in the same area, it doesn't give you a route to follow to reach that specific mission.
The one thing I hate and I'm sure some XIV players will agree on, is using "teleport" to reach that objective. It costs "Gil" every-time you use it. And if you have not explored that area, well good luck in your travels. If they could somehow make an A to B route, that would make a lot of players happy.
Quests are plenty to be had in this game and you will be very happy to hear; that more have just been added in the game to provide you with endless adventure and discovery. There is no limit on quests in XIV and stuff to do aside from the main storyline.
Moving on to gameplay mechanics. This has been one of the most overhauled area in the games rebirth. before it suffered massively. I mean come on, I hit that enemy five times and nothing. Or they way in which they hit the enemy character. Now it looks to me that they've nailed it this time around and I give them cudo's for making this 90% better. It feels like they are hitting enemies; and the way they are hitting them also feels real. Running, walking, riding, anything you had a problem with that riddled the game, has been reworked.

There is still room for improvement but that will happen overtime; and I am satisfied with the accomplishments they have strived to make.
There is so much to make of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn in it's revamped nature. There are times where I get frustrated and then there's times where I'm more often than not, excited. It's apart of learning. Sometimes we need to take a breath and rethink the way we do things in-game. Most often than not we need to realize that were not good at a specific class or classes. It doesn't mean that we should quit because we don't know a specific class or dungeon. It means you need to do some research and become a better player.
For my character "Ezra Le'Vile" it took me two dungeons to realize that I was not a good enough tank. I take criticism as a positive and a lot people take it the opposite direction. It's a fact. No one wants to hear that you suck or you need to improve. It's just who we are in the real world. The best thing I did was ask questions and keep asking questions because really, if you don't, you will never improve as a player. The best part about playing along side XIV players in general, they will always give you tips and they will answer questions at any given time.
The community of XIV is world class and I rarely say that about mmo's. Seriously, I was welcomed into many guilds by players asking me if, I wanted to join. They would even ask me to run dungeons with them regardless of joining them to see if I liked what they had to offer. The community is vibrant and lively in XIV and the numbers continue to grow in terms of players.
The ability to cross-platform play is something we only dreamed about. When would consoles finally break into the pc server world? Now it has finally happened and it will only get stronger in Final Fantasy XIV. With the PlayStation 4 version about to hit shelves this April. New adventures will be started and the defining trio will begin the biggest era in the history of the mmo universe. The question on everyone's mind will be...
"Are you ready to be apart of history?"
"Are you ready to cross-platform play with the best mmo community in the world?"
"And are you willing to step into a Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn?"

Final Fantasy XIV fans can now properly benchmark their PCs and check out some of what's coming to their game this summer.
Today, during a pane at PAX East, Square Enix announced the release date of the next expansion Dawntrail, on top of the editions and more.
The MMORPG will arrive on Xbox consoles on 21st March following its open beta, with Square Enix releasing further details on the launch in a new Lodestone blog post.
Not only is Game Pass required to play the game in full, but FFXIV Coins will be required to make purchases - a new currency not used on PC or PlayStation.
What's even the point if they're doing everything possible to convince people NOT to play?
Bad idea. Kind of at the point its almost like a repeat of FFXI on the 360 with it requiring Gold to play.
Greed greed nothing but greed. Anyone who willingly plays 14 on Xbox is a bona fide sucker.
So Microsoft is not satisfied with the game going to Xbox, they also want to milk it.
The game is very well done and well worth playing. It's P2P and is definitely worth the $15mo subscription fee. Plus, it's going to PS4 in 2 weeks...which looks WAY better, judging from the Beta. I love this game and I encourage any doubters and nay sayers to pony up the cash and give it a chance.
It's worth it. ^_-
I was never one for MMORPG's, but after playing the PS4 beta for A Realm Reborn, I can sincerely say that I am excited for this. I had a blast playing the 6 or 7 hours that I had time for in the beta. Truly lovely graphics for such a huge, multiplayer focused game. While the controls were a little weird to get used to (I understand that these types of games are easier to play with a mouse and keyboard), I eventually found myself becoming addicted to the lore, gameplay, community, and soundtrack.
I plan on getting this for the PS4 when it releases. I don't know how long I'll keep the subscription, but since a month is free upon purchase, I know that this will be well worth the $40 asking price.
