After I had put down the first Dead Space,I realized that I wanted more. I played through 4 more times, it never got old for me. Upon hearing about Dead Space 2,I went a pre-ordered it right away, on Jan 25 I picked it up. For me the Dead Space franchise is one of the best horror games I have ever played, sorry Resident Evil, but Dead Space is something special. From the opening scenes in this new story, i could tell that I was going to be in for one hell of a ride. Each level was as intense as the last was and the Necromorphs never let up. Although the game is only about 8 hours long, there was still plenty to offer. Whether it was upgrading you weapons, finding audio logs, finding new suits, or dismembering a necromorph bastard who is trying to eat your face. Around level 7 is where it starts getting more demented and the story really takes shape. As you race to get off this godforsaken sprawl station, you are hunted by the hordes of necromorphs. Your return to the Ishamura is stressful and frakking intense, it is even more horrifying this time around and rivals the first games creepiness.
Towards the end, you start feeling helpless and hopeless, as you send your only way off the sprawl, off to a safer distance, because you can't lose her like you lost Nicole during the previous game. You sole goal now is find that frakking marker and end this once and for all, while being chased by a monster you can't kill, running low on ammo, and sanity and well everything else. You finally reach that damn marker. The ending isn't truly satisfying but at least for a few years, those necromorph bastards are gone.
Nameer from eXputer: "Dead Space 2 is a sequel that delivers such a feast that by the time you're done, you're not only full but also satisfied."
Hope they remake this one too. Just like they did with number 1. The remake of Dead Space 1 was perfection
thanks to the digital pass for it it was not perfect..in fact its difficult to find a working copy since many years.
Battlefield Bad Company 2, Dead Space 2, Crysis 3, and a handful other EA games have finally had their online services shut down.
I had no idea that Bad Company 2 was still running, and only now that I know, I want to jump on! 😥
BF1943 is the only online MP game that I was genuinely interested in. Been playing since launch 14 years ago. Hate that I couldn't put in as much time to play as I'd hoped for during the final week.
Dead Space 2...... I wasn't even aware that had multiplayer. Nevermind that it was apparently one of their best multiplayers!
Dead Space 2 multiplayer had been hanging on for years - I'd boot my PS3 up to see some familiar names in lobbies. This will definitely be missed!
The Dead Space remake did a great job of breathing life into the original game, but Dead Space 2 doesn't need the same treatment.
It is but I still want one to line up with the DS Remake
I just hope they can maybe turn the over the top action down a bit and dial up the horror with some changes here and there.
Although if they want to do a remixed remake of Dead Space Extraction with us seeing the downfall of the Ishimura in real time then I wouldn't mind that coming first.
I never got into DS2 or 3 like I did DS1. I’m glad they remade DS1. I would probably buy a DS2 remake but that same excitement isn’t there in terms of pure nostalgia.
Little bit of a spoiler at the end, but nice for a first review, also see your a frakking battlestar fan ;).
Spoila!
Hmm, I don't know about the score for graphics (not trolling btw, playing through it atm maxed out on my PC :D just passed chapter 5)
It's a great game, from what I've played, for sure. But the textures and polycount just aren't very high. The lighting is GREAT. MUCH better than DS1's, plus there's a lot more going on at once + no more train loading segments. However sometimes (e.g like when crawling through the ducts) the lack of detail on things gets a bit annoying. So yeah, I'd personally only change the graphics rating to an 8.5. Nice review :)
Thanks guys for the feed back. Ill try not to put spoilers in again. Sorry about that. BattleStar Galatica all the way! Geodood, after seeing this I went back and played some last night, and i agree that the graphics score is maybe a bit high. The lighting really adds to the creepiness of the game, being in the dark and being hunted is always fun :)
