Wait! Remember the 360's first year: DOA

Ok first off I know DOA 4 has been around since time began. The other day I was looking for some original Xbox or early 360 games in a well known used gaming store. I came across three games that I used to play and picked them up again for a thrill ride. The first one was Leisure Suit Larry on xbox ,DOA4 and DOA Xtreme Beach Vollyball 2 on the 360.Even today with all the so called nudity in newer games Larry Suit would probably get an a/o rating. That game is just insane ,funny and fun. There isn't much else to say about Larry except if you haven't played the game you won't find that kind of game being made today on any system.

Now the DOA series has always been popular. First off it was and still is a great fighting game. DOA4 still looks and plays great some 5 years later. Yes we all know about the boobs and cutscenes. There was alot of whining about it back in 2005 and 2006. The funny thing is if you played Soul Caliber 4, Ivy has more boob motion that all of the DOA girls put together and it was a teen rated game. But that aside Doa 4 still holds up to any fight game out there. Where are the one against one fight games? They are not being made today. Another Mortal Crapbat is coming out soon and I hope it isn't crap like the last few have been. I used to love the Mortal series.

Team Ninja was behind the DOA4 and Extreme Vollyball series. The graphics are as good as many games made today. Now before you dog out Extreme vollyball don't act like you didnt play it or wanted to. It's a fun game and very casual. Yes it's all DOA girls and they are almost naked, So what! Again it's fun to laugh at and play too.
These are games where the whole game is mature and not just a nude scene like games today. It's hard not to talk about those scenes in these games because that's what people will bring up but the fact is go out and revisit these games and remember how fun and well made xbox games have been from day one. Now where is DOA 5 ? and it better be mature and as good as DOA 4. Hell I'll even buy Extreme vollyball 3 if that was made. Peace

I remember I bought DoA when I first bought a Ps1! I was hooked then and for me it is still the best fighting game franchise ever made! I was actually thinking about getting DoA 4 again, because I have played Tekken 6,Blazeblue, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, and several other fighting games I can't remember the names of and none of them stood out as much as DoA did to me!

Every DoA game I beat with all characters except for the first one!

Leisure suit larry was a decent game, but I don't know if I would like it anymore. I still have DoA extreme 2... game is just fun to mess around with every now and then. The jet ski's take some getting used to and the tube run is kinda complicated, but it's still a fun game!

This is strange, because I have been thinking about picking up a lot of the old games I used to play! I have even been thinking of getting Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey again!

a button mashing fighting game thats all offense with no defense expolits abound and sex as it's main selling is still one of the best fighters around?

doa4 was a trash fighter with no depth a (pro player could lose to a kid who button mashed) all wraped up in great presentation.

sorry but i've played action/adventure games with better and more deep combat system then doa4.

this fighter only appeals to causal in the genre.

AH the sounds of a bitter fan boy.

No defense? Really. A large part of DOA is the countering and last time I checked countering is defense not offense.

DOA in my opinion is the perfect fighter. The game is super easy to get into for casual fighting players however it has alot of depth in both it's move sets and it's countering systems.

A master of the game would destroy any button masher easily(I have seen this first had) And only masters of the game can pull off some of the insane combos the game has to offer.

People seem to hate on DOA saying it's nothing but a button masher with flashy presentation and sex appeal when the fact is the game is alot deeper then most give it credit for.

The game was played in professional circles for quite awhile(and may still be I don't follow that stuff all to much) A game doesn't get pro tournaments if it's a unbalanced fighter with no depth. Just saying.

doa4 is trash, ask any pro fighting game player and they would tell you the same.it's a good game for casuals.

it's not played at any major tourneys and from your comment your a casual so plz stay in your place.

and on the fan boy comment i brought the game day 1 and have a 360 so plz stfu.

360 gamer tag xXxSeTTriPxXx.i'm a hradcore fighting game fan even have videos of some of my fights on you tube so your comment is a fail you wouldn't know a good fighter if it DP'ed you in the nuts scrub.

let the real man play deep and rewarding fighters that take skillz, will let the boy's jerk off to in game character models roflmao.

and i've seen pro player get beat by button mashers, and the game was really never played in pro circles only people who stuck with the game and got good at it (if their is such a thing),is your so called pro circle.

one button five hit combo's is depth to you it had the same fighting system as ninja gaiden lol.do yo even know what depth is t a fighter jezz?

you could do the same button press for all most all the cast and get the same results, but thats deep riiight.

Reibooi4920d ago

Ok first off. Don't assume things. You don't know me and don't know if I'm a casual fighting fan or not so plz stfu.

The game WAS played professionally. I don't know if it still is or not. But it WAS played professionally and the matches were aired on G4TV back with their brief stint in airing pro gaming tourneys.

As far as saying Fan boy I was not implying that about a console... I was implying that you love some other fighting franchise you consider more hard core and are bitter about the fact that DOA is so popular despite everyone saying it's a crap fighter with no depth despite it being quite the opposite.

Please learn how to read and think before attacking someone over nothing.

7 Game Endings That Made Us Go Wait, What

OX writes: " Ideally, the end of a game delivers a satisfying last bout of gameplay and wraps up the narrative. On occasion, though, a finale is so left field that they could be having Coachella in the right field and you wouldn't notice. Take these bizarre endings, for instance. "

The 7 Weirdest Fighting Game Endings

It must be hard enough making just a handful of endings for your game, just look at how badly Mass Effect 3 stuffed it up. With fighting games boasting rosters of up to 40 characters, all of whom need their own little arc to string together the beatings, that's a lot of endings to write. Perhaps that's why fighting game ending sequences are so frequently completely, unashamedly mental. Here are the seven weirdest.

Failings Of Another Gamer: My Journey With Fighting Games

IM PLAYIN continues its series of fail related articles by looking at fighting games, and how badly they suck at them.

"There are no games that require nearly as much practice to master than a fighting game. There are always several characters to use that possess countless move combinations, and deep systems that will take countless hours to master. On the one hand, I get endless hours of enjoyment watching people play these games: watching people who have mastered these games throw down is awesome. But on the other hand, I absolutely suck at them. However, at the same time I can’t get enough. Here’s my story of my attempts at mastering fighting games, and also what I’ve learned from each failure."
