When "Army Of Two" (the original) was released, my best friend and I jumped at the opportunity to play a game where the entire focus and concept was built around co-op campaign mode. The first army of two was some of the best 5 hours of my life i have ever spent. The game was fun, innovative, and just the right difficulty. "The 40th Day" however, was not what I was hoping it would be.
Now I'm not going to spend all of this time complaining about what was done wrong on this game, after all, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
The game-play is still fun, and just the right level of difficulty so it's not EASY, but it doesn't make you want to pull your hair out. The new moral decisions made for a little extra depth to the game. The weapon customization is amazing, and allows you thousands of possible interchangeable attachments and stuff. So If that is a big selling point to you, then this is the game for you.
However, even though the game did many things right, and didn't change what didn't need fixed, EA Montreal also didn't fix one of the biggest problems from the first game. The Aggro System allows you or your team-mate to attract all the attention of enemies, so the other can make his/her way around the level undetected. But it doesn't work quite that well.
The Aggro system (which in the first game was innovative and I had never seen anything quite like it) had it's problems in the first game, such as the effect of being "invisible" when your team-mate has the aggro, doesn't actually work as well as it theoretically would. And unfortunately, the second game didn't fix those problems.
Here's an example of the aggro system not working to perfection. On the level right after the Mall (I'm sorry, I can't remember what the level is called) my team-mate went straight into the line of fire, in order for myself to sneak in behind their defenses and kill the guys in the turret guns. But it didn't work like that. Not only did I have the turret shooting at me, i also had dozens of other enemies firing at me full force.
Basically, if you have a friend or relative coming to visit you for a day or two, and they like shooter/adventure games (and don't mind hearing some obscene language) then this may be a good game for you to rent. Rent, not buy. This game provided 5 hours of fun game-play, and then about another hour in the story, and I had it beat in roughly 6 hours.
And another little piece of advice, play this on a LARGE screen. If you are playing on a television of less than probably 42 inches, then if you and someone else are playing split-screen, you will have serious issues. It becomes very difficult to see enough of your surroundings to fight effectively.
Overall, this is a good game, nothing really really special. If you were a fan of the first one, than this will not disappoint you very much. (however I don't think it was as good). I'll give it 8 out of 10.
Kevin F. from Link Cable Gaming writes: "Many of the best Xbox 360 games are playable on the Xbox One and Series X|S consoles. Some even with some enhanced visuals and performance. Unfortunately, not every game from the Xbox 360 library has received this glorious feat of being able to be played on more modern Microsoft consoles."
The Spider-man games will never happen. The xbox 360 Marvel Ultimate Alliance games have a better chance of happening than Spider-man titles but won't happen. The Xbox One Ultimate Alliance games delisted years ago
Yeah... you can totally forget about those entries that got delisted because of licensing issues. Those are not happening.
The team behind the best Playstation 3 emulator, RPCS3, has shared a new video showing some major graphical improvements that has implemented in the latest version of the emulator. As such, the team showed God of War 3, The Last of Us, Army of Two, Skate 2 and more games running on the emulator.
I need to build a PC that can at least play PS2 games. I have a working PS3 and I don't mind using it to play PS3 games.... but since Sony doesn't support BC anymore.... you have no choice. The PS4 pro, should allow emulation for PS1 and PS2 games....
I'd like to se Sony do this on their own, and come out with a proper digital marketplace on PC. Consoles will always be around in some form, but PC is the future.
there's a better method here:
it's called buying a dirt-cheap PS3, and playing the games natively on the console.
We all have game franchises we love so much that we don't care what others
think. Then there are games that the majority just agree shouldn't exist.
Sometimes it just takes one of these to kill our most beloved series.
It Takes One Game to Kill a Franchise
Street Fighter V and SoulCalibur V come to mind.
True, and it depends on what the devs learn from the experience whether or not the franchise can make a comeback. Or even make it's first "comeback". Like with Nier. Nobody cared about the first one, but it's hype all around for the sequel :p
Sometimes a game can kill a franchise even before it starts, if it doesn't perform as well as expected. The Order 1886 is an example of this.
I want to say socom with socom 4 as it was by far the worst but confrontation had its issues also. However compared to socom 4 confrontation was amazing. Still not socom 2 but it worked.
Didn't play it in single player but it was a blast in co-op. Using tactics with a friend to take out the bad guys, especially the bosses, was one of the best co-op experiences I've had this gen. And the weapons upgrading is great too.
I agree definitely one of the best co-op experiences this gen, but that doesn't say much. The horrible checkpoint system and repetitive cut scene plays every times you died made the overall game somewhat bland for me.
