The Novel Within The Game

The Xbox exclusive Alan Wake developed by Remedy, is a novel within a game. Throughout the game you learn from what really happens. You are Alan Wake a very popular writer and your wife takes you to Cauldron Lake where the story begins. You are having trouble finishing your new novel, so she takes you to get a way for a few weeks, a nice little vacation. But all vacations don’t have a happy ending. Thus the story of Alan Wake is written.

The game was performing well, as the Xbox360 exclusive. It is one of the Xbox’s proud moments of gaming. The quality of the sound is what helps this game be a psychological thriller. The story is one of the main focuses to the game that makes it intriguing and well balanced. The story keeps you with several amounts of suspense that keeps the game exciting and fresh. One of the best stories the 360 has to offer. Alan Wake progresses through the game and he becomes obsessed with finding his wife and proving to everyone he is telling the truth and not going crazy. The story is well played out and builds up from the start to end. The light and darkness approach is very interesting and makes the game quiet unique.

The gameplay was addicting, for using combinations with the light, to destroy the darkness surrounding the enemy, and then killing him with a gun of choice. It is sometimes easy to predict when a fight scene will happen, and they usually come in groups which makes you get multiple kills. It is still fun and once in a while you encounter new enemies or new types of environments that are haunted! The third person shooter is executed well because you need the light to survive and sometimes the flashlight isn’t always going to save you. You need to use the environments around you to your advantage.

The sound was awesome which made the game suspenseful and scary at some points. The music would get louder and the enemies sounded great. Alan Wake had excellent voice acting and the town felt alive from all the characters. Remedy did a great job with the sound quality, and it worked from the wind, to darkness destroying buildings etc. It was excellent.

The graphics were good, but they could have spent a little bit longer on polishing the characters. Alan Wake looked fantastic and so did the environments which made the game feel more real and alive. Some characters, like his wife, Alice weren’t as well done as they should have been since they were a key part of the game. The visuals were great from the water to each tree. Very well done for an Xbox 360 exclusive.

Overall this game is fantastic with some flaws but is still a really good game. If you enjoy third person shooters try it out. If you want a suspense game I would take a look at it. Alan Wake is great in terms of graphics, sound, and game play. The storyline is the true masterpiece and is very well written. You can trust Alan Wake to be a great game to enjoy. A thermos is upending the Alan Wake community

Remedy has Alan Wake merch on sale, including a pretty blue thermos. Unfortunately, things haven’t gone according to plan, and many players who want a thermos find themselves without one, though it does appear that Remedy is attempting to fix things. Nevertheless, it has resulted in a lot of upset, illustrating just how much the thermos means to Alan Wake fans.

The story borrowed HEAVILY from the King novel "The Dark Half" anyway. Figured there'd be some sort of lawsuit but seems King was in on and ok with it.

King is well know to be really chill with this kind of thing. And with official adaptations. It's cool and shitty. We have had so many low quality movies.
