User Review : 3D Ultra Mini Golf

A game not worth finding a quote for

With 36 holes and three different themes, 3D Ultra Minigolf for the Xbox Live Arcade is a standard mini golf arcade game aimed at casual gamers and meant not to be competitive, but more just for fun. The game includes three different themes and 18 holes per theme, bringing the total game hole count to 36. The first theme is Wild West styled and is set in the dessert. The second theme is set within a fair and makes you putt around different rides. While the last theme is set in outer space and features zero gravity holes.

3D Ultra Minigolf plays like a standard game of mini golf, but pushes the weird obstacle limit even further. Some obstacles like powerful air-blowing vents, explosives, and strategically placed blocks can quickly turn a fun game into a dull chore.

Online play is included, but forces you to do full tournaments instead of just desired holes. And along with Single player, a Level Editor is included. A grid is given to you in the Level Editor and you can place desired pieces in each square to form a possible hole-in-one or use the entire grid and create a massive hole.

The graphics aren’t your typical arcade game, half-decent graphics. The characters that you use to play are very unimaginative, as are the ball and putter. But the levels are surprisingly remarkable. Objects such as a giant space ship and a swinging pirates ship do a lot for the game a really brighten it up.

But in the end, a fun-casual game is ruined by frustrating obstacles. What was meant to be a easy going game that would let you play with friends or online, quickly turns into an all out swear fest, with a different curse every stroke.

The 200 achievement points were quite easy to get, but if achievements don’t interest you, you’re probably best just to save those 800 Microsoft Points.

5 fresh faces drop in to Xbox One backwards compatibility – Are they worth the return?

Carlos writes "I reckon it’s safe to say that no Xbox 360 title arriving on Xbox One via Backwards Compatibility now will be quite as anticipated as that of last week’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, but that doesn’t mean there aren't still hundreds of cracking titles that we’d like to see make their way onto the scheme. The latest batch of arrivals brings five new games across to Xbox One, none of which have really been at the top of the wish list for many players. But are there a few gems in there you should be returning to?"

3D mini golf was good but I was never very skillfull at it, maybe I will jump back to it.

I was actually quite good at it. played online against my nieces and nephews. Beat the crap out of them. The father came to the rescue and I slayed him too. I learned the physics, and got quite good at banking shots. I actually had a lot of arcade games and I am happy to have them back.
