Sony to Still Support the PlayStation 2

Examiner: It's good to know that Sony still cares about the PlayStation 2, or I guess at least that they know they can still make money off of it.

SCEA's head of PlayStation marketing John Koller told GamePro in a recent interview "We have a very firm stance – we're going to continue to support the PS2 wholeheartedly." With a lot of multi-platform titles still getting releases on the PS2 and also exclusives like Persona 4 still making money for the console it's great that they will continue to support the system in 2010.

Being a fan of the Persona series I was happy to see a release of part 4 here last year. So hopefully we will continue to see more great titles in the next year.

Kotaku- BioWare On The Decline Of The JRPG

Kotaku- Final Fantasy aside, Japanese role-playing games simply don't command the respect (or sales) they once did in the West. You may have an opinion on this! That's great. So do BioWare.

With Mass Effect and Dragon Age both leading the way as far as Western RPGs are concerned, they're a company well-placed to know what's good, and what's not so good, about the Japanese entries in the field.

Its incredible to think that it has been a whole ten years since Y2K, but it has. The 2000s will be remembered in the gaming industry as the decade where gaming went mainstream. No longer is gaming a fad or a niche. Instead, video gaming has become a culture, and a part of everyday entertainment.
