Speaking at CES 2010, Kaz Hirai announced that the Sony family of hardware sold 3.8 million units worldwide in the 5 weeks of December. 1.7 million units were sold in the US alone.

Kingdom Hearts : A fan composed an orchestral album

A young composer named Bak.R has composed an orchestral album of some themes from the Kingdom Hearts series. The fourteen tracks were chosen by three stages of voting on the French site KHDestiny, and the album is finally finished ! Come back into the Kingdom Hearts' universe with these wonderful compositions, a few days before the Japanese release of Birth By Sleep.

Gamervision writes: "By all accounts, the PlayStation 2 has had a fantastic run. As of August 2009, it is the best-selling console of all time, continuing to move units years into this current generation. More than three years after the launch of the PlayStation 3, the PS2 has had plenty of new releases, which cannot be said of its former rivals, the Gamecube and Xbox. Both Nintendo's and Microsoft's last-gen systems seemingly ceased production not long after their next-gen counterparts launched, but the PS2 has continued to have strong sales. True, this was aided by a shaky PS3 launch that failed to win over a lot of previous Sony system owners, and the slim model and agreeable price certainly made the PS2 a nice choice for impulse buyers. At any rate, it's undeniable that the PlayStation 2's performance over the last nine years and counting is impressive. However, looking over the new releases planned for this year, it seems like the PS2 could be in its last days."

Resident Evil 12" Deluxe Figures Confirmed for UK

Albert Wesker and Chris Redfield are the first two characters set to be released, and though the figures are undoubtedly set to be highly sought-after, they won't be coming cheap.

I own Steel Battalion, a game many would not have paid 200$ for at launch. Does Anyone Care About Backwards Compatibility?

The Xbox 360 made waves back in 2005 when it was revealed that only select games from the original Xbox library would be backwards compatible on the system. A year later, the PS3 launched with a graphics synthesizer chip installed specifically for full-on PS2 software compatibility. Said chip also contributed to the exorbitant $600 price tag of the console. Meanwhile, the Wii was fully backwards compatible with all GameCube games. Fast forward to the present, and Microsoft is – more or less – done with adding titles to the forward-compatibility list (old games you play on a new system are forward compatible, whereas systems that play old games are backwards compatible), while Sony actually took a step in the opposite direction, losing back compat. Have they dropped support for the feature simply because it's not worth the effort? More important, does anyone care about backwards compatibility?
