Nintendo Shuts Down Zelda Fan Film

Just a couple of weeks ago, a group of Zelda fans released a Zelda fan film, entitled The Hero of Time. Unfortunately, it looks like Nintendo decided that all this free publicity for their series was a bad thing, and ordered the film removed from the internet.

A fan film is basically no different from fan fiction, or fan art - just a way of paying homage to the Zelda series through the medium of an internet video. What reason would Nintendo have to close it down? Will they next shut down other Zelda fan works such as Zelda Reorchestrated?

As any Legend of Zelda fan would know, a new LoZ means more attacking, more puzzles, more side quests and one more gimmick to differentiate this game from all of the others. Spirit Tracks, the second LoZ game available for the DS, is built on the same engine and features the same stylus-only controls as Phantom Hourglass before it, and uses the same cel-shaded art style first featured in Wind Waker. The gimmick this time around is the train used to travel across the world, similar to the boat in Phantom Hourglass complete with cannon - although naturally it can only travel on train tracks.

The Decade of Zelda

Zelda has been around since the mid 80's, yet no previous decade has come close to giving us what this decade has. There have been 9 Zelda game releases in the last 10 years. To put that in perspective, there are only 5 Zelda titles that were not released in this decade. So for all our complaining, for all our slow "no news" times, and for all this whining about why we don't have Zelda Wii yet, it's good to remember that Nintendo has been giving us Zelda love all decade, so be patient young grasshopper and you will greatly rewarded. The fourteen tracks were chosen by three stages of voting on the French site KHDestiny, and the album is finally finished ! Come back into the Kingdom Hearts' universe with these wonderful compositions, a few days before the Japanese release of Birth By Sleep.
