This year MadWorld was the only Wii exclusive that received a 9 from IGN. Bayonetta will be released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in just a couple weeks and it already received a perfect score from Famitsu in Japan. What do these two titles have in common? They were both developed by Platinum Games, the studio that rose from the ashes of Okami developer Clover. This is a group of people that knows how to make great games.

That's just one of the reasons IGN is excited for Infinite Space, the Nintendo DS space opera set for release next year. It will be a bit of a departure for Platinum -- while the developer is known for its intense action games, Infinite Space is a slower paced role-playing affair with turn-based battles.

Destructoid: "Remember when Pokémon games were limited to just 151 little critters to collect? God, those were the days. I can't comprehend trying to acquire every Pokémon they've come up with since that time.

The gang at TheSpeedGamers are made of tougher stuff than I am, apparently. They've decided that they're going to attempt to collect all 493 Pokémon. And they're going to do it in a 72-hour period, live on the internet, as a charity drive for an Oklahoma-based children's cancer charity, Ally's House.

No outside trading, just pure capturing skill involved. Of course, some of the Pokémanz were only available at live events, so special exceptions have been made for these creatures which will be pre-loaded on one of the cartridges they'll be using.

With all of the hoopla surrounding the Spike VGA's, The Halo Reach Trailer, the slews of other exclusive reveals that actually give credibility to the show, another awards ceremony was held the day prior. "The First Annual Inside Gaming Awards" The Inside Gaming awards was created by the online entertainment network for gamers, Machinima.com. A private event which was held in Santa Monica saw a different outcome than what transpired on Spike. With more than 60 million monthly visitors helping to select the winners the Inside Gaming awards has a fairly credible selection process.
The winners were, in no particular order.

Nintendo's DS and Sony's PSP are like oil and water. So why does everyone attempt to mix them together? Awards shows give out "best portable game" trophies, the NPD blends all portable consoles in its Top 10 lists, and all-purpose gaming publications throw them together in the year-end wrapups.

Konami preps creature-battling DSi RPG Foto Showdown

It's taken a while but it finally seems that some publishers are looking to use the DSi's camera.

EA announced its action-platformer Foto Face: The Face Stealer Strikes recently, and now Konami has been talking up its turn-based strategy RPG-cum-Pokemon game Foto Showdown.

The turn-based strategy part of the game seems to be fairly generic, in terms of getting you to battle various sets of monsters against various opponents (one at a time), as well as setting up decks of different characters, weapons and health upgrades.

What makes the game more interesting is how you can you use the DSi camera. Basically, the system works using a colour recognition to spawn monsters based on the dominant colours in your photos.

Dragon's Lair does DSiWare next week

Digital Leisure is bringing Dirk the Daring to the DSiWare service next week, with the DSi becoming the umpteenth platform to receive a port of Don Bluth's classic laserdisc game Dragon's Lair.

It's hard to say how many platforms exactly the game has been ported to already, with some computer platforms receiving multiple versions of the game on multiple media types. The most recent release was for the iPhone, and now the Nintendo DSi gets its game on with a DSiWare version of the game, due out Monday the 22nd in North America and January 1st in Europe.
