This is not an official statement from MS. They simply took an entry from a troubleshooting guide and twisted it into an official statement from MS. The information was taken from a personal blog.

The title of the story is FAKE. No where does MSFT blame anyone for the 360 getting red lights, this is just a trouble shooting step.

It's a rant in a PERSONAL BLOG. Gosh. Who's been approving all these stories?? Do you have a moderator who's a huge PS3 fanboy or what?? You guys should NOT approve a story UNLESS it's from a REPUTABLE source.

This is basic consumer electronics 101. Take a look at almost ANY manual and it will tell you to not use a surge protector.

this is a really interesting news bit, but i think you should link to the original tech report, as the "cop-out" story is sensationalized.
i'll approve this anyway. but seroiusly think about changing the source;
and the report is very old.
