GameSpy: UEFA Euro 2008 Review

GameSpy writes: "If you're a soccer fan, the last year has been a showering of riches. Although Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 stumbled in comparison to past games, EA's soccer line-up hasn't been too shabby. FIFA 08 was one of 2007's greatest sports titles, and although FIFA Street 3 is no NBA Street, it's still leaps and bounds above past installments. Inevitably, with the Euro 2008 tournament kicking off June 7th in Austria and Switzerland, EA delivers another soccer title for the insatiable fan. It's definitely better than the middling 2006 FIFA World Cup, and it's got some technical aspects that bring it above the likes of Champions League 2006-2007, but at the end of the day, it's ultimately a stopgap between FIFA updates, since its phenomenal online capabilities expire at the end of the tournament.

At its core, Euro 2008 extends a great deal of FIFA 08's great strides in gameplay. The button tweaks that allow you to perform tricks, such as flicks, stepovers, and feints are still here. Be a Pro, the feature that really took last fall's game the extra mile, is back, with some adjustments that should hopefully carry over into FIFA 09. In terms of controls, if you're still playing FIFA 08, Euro 2008 should be a cinch."

Pros:
-Fuses FIFA 08 gameplay with great features like goal celebrations and persistent online stat-tracking

Cons:
-The game's shelf life is ultimately the shortest of any of EA's spring soccer titles, a major buzzkill
