Sony Execs Hit Like "Stung Mullets" After HD DVD Decision

Stunned mullets. Australian colloquialism; to act like a stunned mullet is to be "dazed and confused," "in a furious rage," "mad as a cut snake" and "in a state of undeniable anger."

Smarthouse (Australia) reports: Senior Sony executives are according to one senior insider acting like "Stunned Mullets" today (October 18, 2007) following the decision by key Blu-ray partner JB HiFi to drop their exclusive support for Blu-ray and start selling the Toshiba-backed HD DVD.

Personally, I don't care what console plays what DVD format - I think that the Blu-Ray technology is simply a better format.

As much as I hate to say that about a Sony product due to bad experiences in the past with them - I hope Blu-ray wins out.

similar to DMC coming on the 360 way back annoucment. you will only see more multi before we have one winner. it makes no sense supporting a loosing format they say but where there is money to be made, fanboys do not matter, neither do petitions.

@Lorenzferus true, but this could become chain reaction. blu-ray is sill winning as always not sure when they were counted out.

when the Ps3 sell like hotcakes in AUS it's a big deal...der

now the second biggest retailer in AUS and growing doesn't mean much..

who cares about Aussies....just like Europe always gets the shaft when it comes to video games..

ever heard of a ripple effect, if company A makes a decisions that might boost profits, company b might do the same.

So you're saying the PS3 is selling like hotcakes in AUS (I don't know to be honest, and don't really care) and JB HiFi an AUS electronics store is deciding to sell HD-DVD over Blu-Ray, so wouldn't they only be hurting themselves? I mean if the PS3 is already selling in AUS do you think that since JB decided not to support Blu-Ray all AUS people will stop buying the PS3? I doubt it, and wasn't there a poll on how many people know the PS3 can play Blu-Ray and most PS3 owners didn't even know it had the capabilities?

If it hurts anything it would be strictly the Blu-Ray players, but I'm sure Australians could get their Blu-ray movies at some other store.

If I had a choice I'd go with HD DVD though. Bc I don't own a Ps3. But that's just me, so don't hate me just because I'm supporting my console.

If HD DVD wins = cheap HD DVD add on for my 360 = HD movies on my LCD = YaY
