1UP preview: Gears of War PC looks sharper and lasts longer

Everyone agrees it's either Alien vs. Predator or The Chronicles of Riddick." Producer Rod Fergusson underscores the populist idea: "We weren't necessarily working to conceal every rough edge from game critics. It's always about what resonates with the audience you're trying to reach." Whether or not Tinseltown tastemakers argue the other way around -- that those movies are more like videogames -- Gears of War is an interactive Jerry Bruckheimer flick. As the Xbox 360's fastest-selling game, it's triumphed at the "box office" to boot.

I think we all knew it would, didnt we? It was announced that it would have added content (not that I'm happy about it, but I knew it already) and it only stands to make sense that someone who spent $1,000+ on thier gaming PC rig would manage better graphical output than the 360, no?

4 - And I thought this looked good...

...on the 360! Wow, certainly goes to show if you have the money for a high-end gaming rig that you get to see the different on screen. My only real complaint re: the 360 version was there was no big climax. I remember the trailer where the main character dived through a window into a darkened room only to be confronted by what looked like a star lit sky when it was one of the creatures from the GOW universe. Nothing like that in the 360 version of the game. When you did come across the creature in mention it ended up being a wuss!

I remember finally finding the corpser and being psyched up for an intense battle and it was, what?, a couple of clips in the mouth and two bolts on the platform and it was toast, so unfulfulling... oh well, the game rocked overall.

you need 512 MB of unified RAM, according to Epic. And MS own the IP so yeah.Back on topic, if it wasn't faster I'd laugh, this game came out a year ago on Xbox 360. I'll stop playing Gears as soon as Halo 3 comes out.

6 - Hmmm I've beaten this game like 6 times on Insane

Every time I see it, I wanna play.

Well look it hear, this is a no-brainer. It's on the PC for sakes.

Given one more year, consoles will be outdated with their GPU/RAM limitations, unless your Sony and think otherwise.

Gears of War, one of those games you never forget, when you talk to your grandkids, about the Xbox 360, when their on Xbox 1800.

Can you imagine GEARS 2, this game did feel like a fast action non-stop movie with no time to bs..BOOOMERS..

7 - This is the game I bought my 360 for

I just sold my 360 since I finally got bored and fed up with the lag. I'll probably buy another 360 win the hardware is better built and Gears2 comes out. Other than Gears there isn't one game on the 360 that has cought my attention. I might just upgrade my graphics card, since you can get a good graphics card for like $200 now that can do gears in Max settings. The PC looks alot better than the 360 version, it's a shame it's not coming to the PS3

Better looking textures (slightly), but the real noticeable difference is the use of anti-aliasing (yay!). Can't wait to see how Unreal Tournament turns out. =]

Sad that some people can't believe that the PS3 and 360 are pretty much capable of handling the same thing. Sad that people are using Madden in arguments. Sad that fanboys are so stupid. What is cool is the new deleted content for Gears of War. Loved the game, would love it more with build up to the train level. Hopefully, I can have a PC powerful enough to run it.

10 - the real kicker is

that Gears had to wait to come to PC before it could get anywhere near it's target renders. Anyone that has seen the REAL comparisons on the net can tell you that compared to the pre-renders the 360 version looks like total crap.
