UT3 Won't use Live

Well, the PC version of the game at least unless things change. Here's a post by Epic's Mark Rein:

UT3 does not use Games for Windows LIVE. We have not decided about cross platform play between PC and PS3. We're not 100% sure that users want that feature but if we get time we'll play around with it and see how it works. In the mean time we plan to be able to serve the PS3 from PC servers so that should help us gets lots of great servers going.

PS3 version is rumored to support a mouse and keyboard though too...

as long as not every server is both PC and PS3, I think it could work pretty well...I have a good bit of friends that are getting this for PC...and a good bit for PS3...it would be cool if we could all kill each other over and over again regardless of what hardware we are using...as long as it works right...

The Live service is really crap for large multiplayer games, since the avergae persons upload speed is far to low to deal with anymore than 4 players. It's a good move to stay with dedicated servers, games like The Darkness have suffered badly in multiplayer due to the limits of peer to peer tech.

From what I understand, if they use LIVE then PC users can even mod their game, right? If that's the case, then screw LIVE for PC. If you're still able to use mods through LIVE, then I wouldn't care.

If I want to play games like UT3 online, I want to MOD the hell out of it, just like I do now with Counter-Strike: Source. SKIN MODS RULE!

Who even brought up the 360? and why did you deem it necessary to start saying how the 360 version of this game will be a "port"...I don't own a 360...I couldn't care less...I am just asking, what does that have to do with anything? I agree that the PS3 has a great lineup this fall and next year...but I am having trouble correlating that fact with anything to do with the 360...

LOL my bad for the caps idk if it would come out the large no homo

lol. i like the fact that they really are trying for the ps3, people

talk to trash on sony and theyre the one trying really hard to make

new thing in the indutry. 360 is a good system but i feel the first

xbox was a bigger leep in gaming than the 360 is now. i feel like

their not even trying like they did before and they lost my respect

big time. i always owned all three consoles and even as a kid i never

took sides when it was just nintendo and sega. but right now i have to

give it up to sony for taking the resks and delievering a great

system. everyone was saying how they had no games and now look more

games this fall and winter than 360 and wii put together and thats

just first party games. they say that the price is too high well you

get what you pay for you spend 400 on a 360 and you get something that

gonna break down on you out of the box, as for the ps3 well its great

very lil system failers its all most like they didnt have any to begin

with. sony is working really hard and i feel like their not getting

the credit they should be getting. and thats why im getting a ps3 the

first chance i get and my 360 is really picking up dust right i just

use it as a dvd player right now. its a good console but they didnt

try at all this time around, its like all they wanted was to bring

their system out first and thats it. well in the end i know sony will

win, i just dont know how they will do against the wii and i really

feel that they could win against it if the ppush the ps2 out a lil

more hell a new controller for it and just port wii games on the ps2

and i know theyll do it. plus its sad how the ps2 is selling better

then the 360 wtf is that all about anyway come microsoft be real here

is that the best you can do. they really let me down so bad, i thought

it would be microsoft that would try all these new ideas and bring a

over all system with crazy features and it wasnt.

I just wanted to say this about Windows Live, it is free to play Pc Vs PC on it, and you can use mods if you want. Windows Live silver is just like Battle Net or Steam.

14 - PS3 fans I'm sorry but Sony will adopt a Live style service and PC owners forget Gamespy and pay to play MMOs

Everyone will eventualy copy Live, just look at what Gamespy tries to do (they charge you for service) Do you want your game fun and fair? then you need a service and they use servers and that cost money. Once Epic and MS work out the kinks for mods in Live, expect a big boost in service based gaming networks. In this world you get what you pay for and with free you get glitchers, cheaters and modders that go unchecked and ruin online gaming. I know I been online PC gaming since 97 and nothing is worse than a good game gone bad with some greafing asshole.

i have both systems but cant get a wii right now where i live . so i keep up with what games are coming out for both systems and 360s line up for this fall is great.most of the muti platformers i'm getting on 360 b/c of the extras i get on 360.you said we only got gta4 and halo3 but i think your forgetting some . bioshock,acecombat 6,mass effect ,world in conflict,splinter cell conviction , ps3 doesn't have a bad lineup either.but the only ones i like that much is lair and warhawk and ut3.but like i said most of the muti platformers are better on 360 b/c of the dlc that is coming for 360 only.
