Hey, I think this is pretty cool. Get some other bibles up there in addition to the Judeo Christian version. How awesome would it be if a substantial number of gamers could speak intelligently about the differences between the Christian Bible and the book of Buddha, and then go right into the best strategy in Gears. Might even make some people a bit more mature....though I doubt those people would be interested.

It's all about choice. All people should be respectful of one another's choices and beliefs, and be willing to accept that a person may not believe the same thing that we believe. The major conflicts between people centers on our desires to make everyone think like us, and I guarantee this doesn't happen only in religion, but for anything. Look at the console fanboys and how they treat each other. Some do it in jest, others I'm not so sure about.

My good sir, the point is that people have different beliefs, and though you may not respect their beliefs, you can still respect their feelings. That's something they teach children in elementary school, but I suppose a lot of people were not in attendance that day.

And I'd like to ask you a personal question? What do you think the eventual goal of humanity is? Where is all the PROGRESS leading people? Because, as I think of it, if we are just the same insignificant accumulation of matter as everything around us, then it is categorically irrelevant to complain about external conflicts. You and I and everyone dies, and eventually all things crumble and are erased from existence. So complaining about it only aggravates the situation.

The human race's attempt to advance in anything can be analogized as a man building a sand castle at the beach. No matter how many towers he builds on that castle, nor how tall he makes it, nor how grand, the tides will eventually settle in and erase his work. His complaining about the wind being strong and the sand not being malleable to his needs is pretty silly when you think about it. Much like your complaints about faith hurting human progress. I mean, really, who cares?

AHEM......imagine this. You are a being of immortal power. You get bored and make something of the universe and add little creatures like you. And at first, they please you and you love them. You tell them that they can do anything but one thing. Then these little butt wipes don't listen to the simple instructions you give them. You punish them and they continue to not follow your instruction and fight amongst each other and replace their recognition of you with false versions of you.

Do you:
A) Kill the creatures you had come to love because most of them don't follow your instruction, but some do.
B) Separate the good and bad buy letting them who live to honor you, their creator, join you after their bodies break down.
C) Peace and love for everyone, even the little turds who disobeyed you at every twist and turn and ignored your existence.

It's interesting that you think an immortal creator has obligations to serve us and give us peace when we ignore him and disobey his simple orders.

I knew I will get attacked by people who believe in God. I knew they will be hypocritical by saying that I don't respect others opinion when they don't respect mine. I never said that YOU shouldn't believe in God, I said I don't believe in God. Big difference. I never insulted anyone I stated facts.

Religion caused war: The crusades for example. Muslims and Christians have been at each others throats for centuries.

How religion holds back progress??? Many people, scientists where afraid to come out with their works because they would have been burned at the stake for witchcraft or called a heretic and lynched. Remember the inquisition????

Also: 3year old little kids with cancer....how do you explain that people of God??? Don't give me that it's a test....test my @ss. It's pure cruelty.

For the Adam and Eve story.....because of 1 person doing something against God than all of humanity should suffer???? Is that a good God??? Not in my book. I'm happy that religion slowly but shurley dissapears!!!

The people who hold back progress in religion are the people who don't understand it. There will always be people who take sides to things they don't understand and warp it.

Common day biblical scholars know that Galileo's work doesn't conflict with the bible. Catholicism didn't believe in people reading bibles, only in a few teaching it. And not everyone's perception of everything is correct.

Anti-religion persons too often blame individual persons who claim themselves to religion and don't understand the actual scripture.

I didn't say anything about it being a test. I gave you a true perspective on what God IS; An all powerful being who doesn't have to do anything for anyone, and we should just be happy to be alive. He doesn't HAVE to be your definition of "Good". That is my point.

As technology and science grows religion becomes kind of irrelevant. If you read the bible, it mostly just fiction. Nothing in there could possible be truth, science on the other hand offers proper explantions. I think that's why Religion isn't as important as before. I'm personally a catholic and I do believe in all that stuff, but I do question some of it.

Excellent post Kaveti and I agree with you 100%. If you don't believe in something, then what's the point of living? It's as simple as that and that's pretty much how I live. What's the point of being a good person or doing the right thing if one day everyone and everything you know and love will be a distant memory?

I cannot wrap my mind around such a thing which is why I believe there is something after this life. IMO I believe as a human being we our molding our character for the next step.

You guys can believe whatever you want, but this is what gets me through the day knowing everything I do isn't for nothing.
