If sony where to ever go then i go along with it. Unless Sega came back, If Nintendo was more like sony or be the same way it was back in the snes days then id go back to Nintendo also.

I agree with most of you on this one.

If Sony or for that matter any of the current players in the console market got out I think it would be bad news for consumers.

You would be looking at a duopoly that would probably stagnate the whole industry with neither one really competing with the other.

All three brands have found success in the market and I hope that competition continues for a long time yet.

Anyways there is no reason for Sony to quit. Sure they have fallen very far from their standards, but so what? They have regained themselves past Nintendo, and have a much better hardware than MS.

Sure, MS has the more organized and stronger online community and more exclusive games overall, but Sony has pushed fresh titles this gen and have delivered with their big hitters. They have a FREE online service that works well and are still a big name.

Sony quitting would be interesting-- they would leave behind a great legacy and will be known as the guys who mainstreamed console gaming to an older audience. But they wont leave. They are suffering through some hard times, but they are giants.

this year alone i only bought PS3 exclusive while i pirated and rented the rest, the quality in sonys exclusive is just obvious and worth keeping

and of course if they left we would only be left with M$ who would rip us off any chace they could and nintendo who have abandoned hardcore gamers

that's the day I quit. I honestly think that it wouldn't really be a bad idea to quit gaming cause there will be that one day when a person needs to move on. I hope that another brand rises up soon after Sony, because we seriously need the competition. It's best to have choices or the gaming industry is just going to slowly die off.

Living in a what they call third world country when I was young, I got to experience nes,snes, atari 2600, about all the sega consoles at friends who could afford em. But it was sony who really introduced me into gaming crash bandicoot was the very first game I played then followed spyro, tekken, GT, Rugrats <<< AWESOME GAME !!!!!!!

I'm actually flattered that the article has generated such a response. Glad to see that a lot of you 'got' the article and to those of you who didn't; well, I'll sum it up with a quote from the piece:

It's a make believe article, as are all of the What If articles which are a light-hearted bit of fun. They're designed to generate a bit of discussion between the thousands of members at TSA, not to generate hits; I couldn't care less if 1 or 1000 people read it.

To all those that have contributed nothing but vile comments; you're wasting your time. I'm not going to be losing sleep over your opinions. If you don't like TSA, fair enough, but the mere fact that you spend your evening bickering over something so trivial, obviously shows you are interested in some capacity. What I tend to do with articles I don't like is ignore them. Completely.

well if that happened wed only have one good system to play one with the other being bugged with technical problems and bad support

hopfully sony nor nintendo quit , that be the day the industry died ,
the creativity level would go so far down microsoft would continue to throw fpses until their played out and no one would push for new level of gameplay and excitment leading to the 3rd and final video game crash if not a crash certainly a raise in cost ,

xbox live would cost 100 for gold 50 for silver ,
and it would force us to download our games
much like steam ,
and

nintendo wouldnt have to worry since ,
ms isnt a threat to their market ,
and then guess what , they doo the same thing ,
quit , , or raise the cost of their games due to less competition ,

now if nintendo quit that make things 2x as badd as if sony quit , because they are the main force behind innovation ,,

believe it or not , while sony perfects in new mediums , nintendo decides to find new ways to play their games,
and as a result was the first to
create a 4 controller port console out of box , first polygon 3d console first analog stick first motion sensing etc consoles , ,

every game changing thing from graphics to accessories to the actual gameplay it self , ,nintendos the number 1 reason why sony is 1 supportive of a dual analog controller fpses wouldnt be as they are today if it werent for n64 ,. and goldeneye

so without nintendo or sony here , , i will quit , i m not supporting download to play oh no microsoft you can keep that!
