like a fake yugioh game (Eye of Judgement) and a few other inspired dev's to support the eyetoy. sony has a habit of not fully supporting their peripheral. remember the ps tap where you could play 4 players on one game. how many games where made for that.

0.2 - While you play Natal I will
be playing GT 5, GoW 3, Heavy Rain, Great games that are releasing now but im not getting due to crowded season like Assasins Creed 2, Borderlands, etc.

I think its great for those that like motion games to have options like Natal, Wii, PS3 motion controller, etc, but to think a motion console will overtake the stunning AAA library of games for core gamers coming out next year is a little off.

It will be interesting to see how Natal is received, definetely 2020 is shaping up to be a defining year for the Video game industry as we know it, i just hope the core gamers are still served when all this motion frenzy arrives.

No, what will own in 2010 will be being a gamer that plays all the good games that come out on either console. I will be very happy in 2010 playing games like Mass Effect 2, Alan Wake, God of War 3, Heavy Rain, Splinter Cell Conviction, The Last Guardian, and Halo Reach. Loser fanboys are the ones that lose out.

If ms is copying sony with natal, why is sony researching their own full body motion controller. They should just be able to use the eye toy right?

They will also own your wallets, With there $100 wireless adapter. Natal is looking like it will cost more than the console itself. I realy dont see people buying into this, especialy if the price rumours are true.

*edit* there is no way it will be as cheap as you say above not with microsofts previous rep with overcharging on HDDs,, Adapters etc, wishfull thinking though.

"The device should cost under £50 when sold solo. One publishing source says Microsoft is “trying to get as close as possible to ‘impulse buy’”. Another even says the camera could even retail for just £30."

edit: Microsoft is Hoping for a Big Impact with Natal's release so they'll be doing everything possible to move the most units for Christmas 2010. That's exactly what they will be doing with a £30-£50 price tag for the Camera device and 14 games available at launch.

Did you read the article?

You say it won't be that cheap given the price of the wireless adapters and HDD, but you have to consider that they'll make money back from software sold, which doesn't apply to those products you mentioned.

Basically, they'll be looking to get as many Natal units in peoples homes as possible and at this rumoured price it would be easier.

1.3 - yeah dude
the article says they are trying to go for a impulse by....which means it will be at a price point that you won't have to consider buying....you will just buy...

If it has the right games for it I will buy it. I sold my wii so im not really into the whole motion thing. If halo reach has motion parts then damn i have no choice

If Natal can support 4 players at once then a wireless adapter won't be necessary. This technology is going to be targeted at friends and family who will be playing in the same room, so why will there be a need for a Wifi adapter and an Live Gold subscription? That drops $150 off of the cost comparison list that many people like to publish with their posts. The on-board memory in the Arcade unit is more than adequate for game saves, so the $100 for an HDD is not necessary.

If MS does it right this could be a good push into the casual gaming market, a market that doesn't care as much about internet connectivity and online play. The Wii has been wildly successful without a hard drive. It offers extremely limited online play. And it isn't impossible to get a 360 online without a WiFi adapter. There is ethernet built in.

1.5 - It's quite brilliant, actually.
To price an optional peripheral less then a "required" peripheral (we all know wireless isn't "required" but most people will get it, regardless--the same with the HDDs).

The profits from the required peripherals can supplement the ones that they're pushing, ie Natal.

With Halo Reach at 60$ and Natal at a max of 60$, that's like 120$. A really good deal, specially if the camera can do video conferencing too like the old camera.

I noticed the i7 920 dropped $20 in price on msy since you last messaged. I also notice the 920 is NOT being phased out, contradicting what you said.

Remember How I said to wait to message me about this until the end of November so that we can accurately see the price drop back to <$350 after more stock arrives?
Why don't you do as you're told?

4 - Interesting
It seems as if MS is VERY competitive with Natal, I honestly thought that it would be $100+, I just hope that it works out for them.

This seems like it will (unfortunately) completely counter-act Sony's Motion Controller. Such a competitive price and 14 launch games (provided that they aren't all just demo-type games like we've seen at E3) will definitely attract more consumer's than the wand (currently unpriced). Oh well, hope that the news doesn't hurt Sony too badly.

4.1 - for
sony it is the PlayStation eye and the wand....you have to have both for it to work. Since the eye has been out for a while they could sell them together for a total price of $60 as well. This is just an assumption anyway

And this is why Natal is going to be a much bigger success than sony's eyetoy because Microsoft will give it lots of support. Their already has been many reports of top developers very excited on what Natal can do. I mean what has sony done so for with its eyetoy technology? Eye of Judgement? LOL!

Microsoft is going to own 2010.

I believe Sony have kept that information more under wraps. I remember reading somewhere that they have been showing it to their internal studios so they can release it with software. Whether this means motion control upgrades for current games or new motion games I don't know. However it would be very stupid of a company to release a half-a55ed motion system with no games in this market that is now swinging and flailing its way into the mainstream.

Both Microsoft and Sony will have support for their products, or else they will never be accepted by the public. This reminds me of wiimotion plus. I have 10+ games and ones I am looking forward to, but not one of them uses the addon.

I forgot about that stuff. Everything in that list save for LittleBigPlanet are smaller psn games.

What I am hoping they will do the wand is make games like Uncharted, infamous, etc. compatible OR make games of this caliber in the future compatible with the wand. If they were to do that people like myself would be far more tempted to go and buy the product. They proved that they are at least considering that option considering that they did the Resident Evil 5 demo with the controls.

5.11 - @ The great melon.
I think since it's launching spring next year, Sony studios will be pressed for time to develop Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 like games for the wand.SOny will most likely release the casual stuff listed above then roll out backwards compatibility for previous titles and then towards the end of next year, roll out hardcore games that fully take advantage of the wand.

I know that most people are skeptical about motion controls but i am really excited to see what Sony and Microsoft can pull off with their offerings.

People that think this will have any effect on 360 sales are deluded, natal will only work with new titles, and anyone interested in gaming for the motion control aspect most likely already own a Wii, it's a sad game of catch up for MS and Sony, nintendo did it right, the others dissed, now they are begging for a slice. Nintendo will continue to dominate in sales in consoles and games, even if the games are Mario Kart Fitness 7 and the like.

I really thought Natal would launch with the next x-box as well, we'll see in a years time i suppose.

@Foxgod

actually i won't be saying anything at all, console wars are below me, i just think it's hilarious that the HARDCORE!!!!!! console's are appealing to the kiddies now.

you're an optimist for games you haven't seen and a price you can't confirm.

SHOULD cost and COULD cost don't equal **WILL** cost.but it's nice being optimistic right?

a year is a long time to wait. and it was obvious microsoft couldn't jump to next gen because of the cost to launch a new system, game development cost and economic climate.

@dchalfont-IDK what's up with all the console bashing dude. Thing is there's casual games galore on 360,PS3,PS2 and Wii. Guess what? There is on the PC too! My kids are always playing some nonsense on mine, trust me. So why doe it matter what's available on any platform as long as there are great games for YOU?

I play great PC games, great Sony exclusives and great multis on PS3 and great exclusives on 360. I even play some GREAT Wii games when they're about. Christ I'm sick of the divisive nature of gamers atm. This is axactly why IW and acti shafted us so hard and got away with it.

BTW, dchal-not just you on that score I just thought you'd be one of those more against the current climate of all round hate. Wouldn';t we ALL be better off just as gamers?

There's no console hate. I just think motion control is ridiculous. I have owned every single nintendo console and handheld since the beginning as well as a ps2 an x-box and an atari ( and been a pc gamer all the while), but motion control has ruined gaming for me. I sold my wii which was quite upsetting for me, i was looking forward to it so much. I would never buy an x-box 360 after owning the first and experiencing problems, as well as obvious 360 issues. Ps3 didn't do it for me because besides the first few models they didn't offer BC, if it did i would buy one in an instant, all my reasons are very valid, but i never said i hate any of the console's. I just think motion control is a bad direction to be taking games. For kids it's great, for me, not so much.

9.6 - Yeah, people are just going to line up to spend another $100 on their 360 console. It's the system that just keeps on taking.
Seriously, why on earth would the average casual, who is the target audience for Natal, pick up a Xbox 360 and Natal when they can just pick up a Wii for $200?

Also, I'm with dchalfont. I've been a Nintendo supporter for years and owned every Nintendo system from the Super NES up and the Wii was a huge disappointment for me because I hated the motion control. And I felt guilty for it. I tried to force myself to play the damn thing for a year before I sold it but just couldn't get into it when I had the 360 and PS3 to choose over the Wii. Casuals seem to love it, and I think it's great that Nintendo is doing so well, it just wasn't for me.
