Top 10 upcoming sandbox games in 2010-2012

VGarabia: Yu Suzuki's masterpiece, Shenmue was the first game to introduce the free roaming or sandbox gameplay to this industry. Suzuki coined a genre title, "FREE" (Full Reactive Eyes Entertainment), for the game, based on the interactivity and freedom he wanted to give to the player. Then, Rockstar games carried on from where Shenmue has stopped and evolved the genre even more with the release of the first 3D GTA game on PS2, GTA 3.

Since that time, and the sandbox gameplay has set the videogames world on fire with the release of some of the biggest franchises in the industry. Without further ado, We here at VGarabia.com present to you top 10 most anticipated sandbox games in 2010 to 2012.

yeah i really hope for an inFAMOUS sequel in 2011/12 ('10 would be too soon).
Correct me if I'm wrong.. but is Agency a sandbox game too? The one they showed in Comicon and stuff.

I didn't really like what they had on the list because they had things not announced. We didn't have much info on some of them, either. Right now I'm looking forward to Red Dead Redemption the most. That game's looking seriously amazing.

Isn't that list a bit too much speculation? Infamous 2 Prototype 2 and GTA 5 are are not confirmed, we don't know if LA Noire and Agent will be open world.

It has been confirmed that Agent and L.A Noire are open world games. Infamous 2, Prototype 2 and GT5 are all in development.

Well if you read the articles, it tells you why inFamous 2 is confirmed.. unofficially ofc.

GTA V is a duh.. i mean.. why would they throw out their biggest money making franchise.

are you sure? inFamous 2 is probably in development but i've never heard anything about a Prototype 2.

and while LA Noire should be an open-world game, i've never heard Rockstar confirmed Agent will be one.

and btw, how could GTA V be in development when the team that has worked on every GTA (Rockstar North) is currently working on Agent? are you saying that you know for a fact that they're working on 2 games at the same time? cause i highly doubt it.

and the game sold pretty well, so why not a sequel. And yes Agent is an open world game, and it's being developed by the same team of GTA 4.

driver had a freeride mode where you could drive around a big map and do whatever you want. just cause you were in a car doesn't mean it didn't have freedom.

Alan Wake is not a sandbox game. At first it was, but now they have change it to be episodic. Meaning that they will choose the place and the time best suited for the game.

Rockstar is without a doubt one of the most prolific studio in the world. plus, Agent is a PS3 exclusive game.

Uhhh, no more sandbox games, please. Its entertaining and funny to play some of these but after so many dozens it gets so damn LAME and boring.

Body Harvest was more of an action adventure game. Shenmue was the real deal. It's thanks to Shenmue for pioneering this genre.
