I'd say "Inspired" rather than a rip-off.

That Eight Days have so much potential to be a great game like Uncharted 2 too bad it went on-hold.

Back then when I was expecting a PS3 to be released, THIS WAS THE SAME TRAILER (By Rashid Sayed) THAT GOT ME.......SPEECHLESS! I was extremely upset when I found out that the other project "The Getaway 3" was supposedly canned along with this game. BUT if it's better than Uncharted 2 (can't imagine how difficult it is to top that), BRING IT ON SCEE!

EIGHT DAYS, PLEASE BE OUR UNEXPECTED GAME ALONG WITH THE GETAWAY 3!

Lol, while I was playing Uncharted 2, I said to myself this reminds me of the exact same video shown of Eight Days in this article. If Eight Days does rip off UC2, I for one will not be complaining because UC2 was FLAWLESS!

all Sony studios share assets and ideas, that's not called a rip off. if a dev strives for realism then obviously there is going to be huge similarities between the finished products. it's like saying that Forza is a GT rip off because the devs have tried to make the cars handle realistically. how else would someone hide behind a wall or roll out to shoot? no matter what the tech is behind any given game, in the end (when perfection is achieved) the games are going to act exactly the same.

But anyways, from what I've seen, Eight Days looks pretty good even though it's very early in development. I don't think that one's a rip off of the other, but I do notice that they share some ideas. It's like saying Uncharted ripped off of Gears of War. Both have similar combat mechanics, but they're not completely the same.

the game needs to be realesed great game.however this article is a joke!!.only simularity is the cover system. but come on people seriously.
there soo many games that have very simular cove styles.is that soo bad as this game was reviewed 2006.i can see this being any sort of clone or vise verser.theres only soo much you can varyate when comes to styles of cover when under attack.so i think this utter rubbish.BUT I DO WANT THIS GAME TO COME TO US NEXT YEAR.

It is a worth while discovery, but it really should not matter to gamers in general or to Uncharted fans. This would only be a problem if the property rights of ideas were taken from 1 group and given to another. Then that will have to be resolved by legal means. As it is gamers got a great game. That is the best possible result as a gamer. Great for PS3 owners.

tell me, author of this article, when you were playing 8 Days, did it have the same level of characterization, control, atmosphere, gameplay as the Uncharted series?

what's that, you say? you NEVER played those games because they only exist in tech demo video form? NO!

Uncharted is Uncharted. anyone that has watched the various behind the scenes videos in BOTH Uncharted games knows that their inspiration was primarily film, and their own desire to really push characterization and animation in games.

as far back as Jak and Daxter, ND has always gone above and beyond other devs in the department of integrating their characters and worlds seamlessly. like i said in another post; ND was one of the first, if not the first, PS2 developer to have seamless levels in Jak and Daxter - you could literally see a spot off in the distance in Jak 1, and then run to that section, hopping and platforming the entire time, without a single loading screen.

8 Days isn't on store shelves. Uncharted 1 and Uncharted 2 IS.

if Eight Days is truly in production again, people won't be saying Uncharted ripped Eight Days, but the other way around.

it doesn't matter that the 8 Days tech demo was shown first, the Uncharted GAMES were RELEASED first.

for the record, when i played the very first Uncharted back in 2007, i thought of the Eight Days tech demo, and thought that ND had simply used the tech Sony was showing off in 8 Days, and actually applied them to Uncharted. i never thought 8 Days was a real game. lol.

in either case, it will have quite a hill to climb, as it's the strong characterization in Uncharted that makes it so classic moreso than the rock solid gameplay.

8 Days will have to deliver on the gameplay, AND the characterization to make a dent in Uncharted's rep.

in either case, they are both PS3 exclusive franchises, so i guess the PS3 audience wins either way if 8 Days turns out to be good and more than just vaporware.
