Valve's PSN Comments Disgusting ; Steam PS3 Campaign Opens

Justin D. of Neocrisis writes: "Only a few days after Gearbox's Randy Pitchford made comments about how Valve's stubbornness about PS3 development is only an excuse, it seems like Valve's answer to my question of whether they would prove either Randy or HipHopGamer right seems to sadly be the former answer.

CVG recently conducted an interview with Left 4 Dead project lead Chet Faliszek, and he made a comment that no one should ever make in the game industry about ANY community of gamers. This was aimed at the PS3 gamers, insulting them yet again by saying, "In hooking up with your friends and the community aspects, I think the Xbox 360 is head and shoulders above the PS3. The 360 and PC are on par, right?", and that Left 4 Dead 2 will be exclusive for that reason alone.

Never mind the fact that the community in Uncharted 2 seems to disprove Chet right "cheir", but it's also an amusing claim when you look at what the 360 community is made up of sometimes, and why Chet couldn't be any further from the truth, and should be fired for the comments. Meanwhile, we're going to do our part to make sure that Valve realizes their mistake...on Steam."

thati have as many tlaking people on PSN as i do live. all my friends

thanks for clearing that up. to be fair the only games on live that are played are halo and gears and MW. I don't play either i play MW BFBC and madden and L4D and im not gonna say i wont but a valve game because of there opinion i will say i like valve games but there stance and professionalism has hit a all time low.

The fact that you cosign that they should make games based on assumptions and exclude something like other gamers and me being a huge gamer myself finds it disgusting that you would feel this way

get over the ps3 vs 360 and realize if your a gamer we care about games and not one companies assumptions to a mute point no one can prove.

Hey but look at this way if i play any of those games i mentioned above with party chat now if your not in it your team doesn't talk either so take that as you will.

I will buy L4D because i had fun this is there opinion but as a gamer its disgusting and should not be tolerated maybe money is the only way to hit them but as gamers we shouldn't have to be drawn to do such drastic things we should be able to join forces and let them know that even though you may hate PS or whatever that regardless you wont stand for something like this that really is becoming a dark spot of the industry.

For God's sake - who do these people think they are??? Were they the creator's of Mario,Final Fantasy, Zelda, Metal Gear, God of War, Call of Duty, or Street Fighter??? Meh. Half Life was the last game I bought from them many years ago. I don't need them in my life or in my PS3. Good riddance.

All I ask from them though is this: If you're going to make a comment about something, back it up with facts. Don't use lame excuses for your incompetence and/or greed while throwing people (in this case, the PS3 community) under the bus. It makes you look like an amateur douchebag. And it burns bridges. Valve doesn't care about any console. The only reason they like the 360 is because it is so similar to PC. If next generation the 720 has a complex structure and the PS4 is very similar to PC, guess which console gets Valve games.

is not so much that Valve can't keep coming up with reasons not to make games for the PS3. It is that they keep going on the record with these statements that give PS3 owners reasons to not want Valve games even if they did have them on the PS3.

Personally I feel it is their prerogative whatever the reason, but I honestly wouldn't EVEN expect a company that biased against the PS3 to be ABLE to make a good PS3 game if they tried. Exclusive too. You would think they would want to keep that option open. They may have to do a Kojima someday.

Hypothetically, I'm saying Valve PS3 games suck - as in Blue Omega suck. I'm giving their games a psuedocritic of 3.suck. Who would want to play them anyway!!(LOL j/k!)

facts are facts...the pc and the xbox 360's are both almost the same and easier to turn a pc game around onto the xbox 360 console then on the ps3....valve only works with what they know...I cant see how people are mad at valve and gearbox to start making ps3 games when it will cost more and from the game charts harder to sell to ps3 owners..3rd week of uncharted 2 and almost 700k...you ps3 owners should be ashamed of yourselves....."best" ; game of the year and such low numbers.

Because for a high profile,highly scored,AAA game that most people on this same website claim to be the ps3's "BEST" game....its a sequel to one of the most graphically stunning video game on the ps3 console....to sell less than 1 million in the first week is a travesty. With more then 8 millions ps3's in North America..there is no excuse that its top games cant break a million in sales in one week let alone two-three...put it this was....halo odst was a sequel and some say a "expansion" but it managed to sell 1.6 million copies in one week.

not any game is going to beat Halo for a while unless it has Mario in it. Microsoft scored a homerun with this franchise. I don't think we would have had a 360 without a Halo.

The two games didn't start the same the way I see it. No Halo since the first has improved the game significantly, but Uncharted 2 is a significant improvement from the original. As is its sales. Many people including myself did not have a PS3 when the original came out.

Microsoft has been eating off Halo for years. Not only Microsoft either; there are Halo pajamas, net cartoons, collector's bobble heads, nightlight posters, etc. It has a huge percentage of mind share, I'm sure. To any game it is the 300-pound gorilla in the room - the only game Modern Warfare couldn't scare into the first quarter. What version of the game doesn't matter if it is a FPS.

So let's compare Uncharted 2 to Halo: ODST...Riiight!

Anyhow, I see where you are coming from. It is not Halo although it is heralded as such, but I fail to see 700,000 as a disappointment.

sounds like a excuse..and it seems like everytime someone talks sales its always dont compare them..but when it comes to gameplay and graphics there is no comparison...funny..when the ps3 didnt have as many consoles sold the excuse would be valid...but now those excuses are old and dont apply anymore...there is no excuse for a top tier game like uncharted 2 to not have sales compared to halo 3 or any part of that series. and the author uses uncharted 2 to prove his point? He'd have been better off using killzone 2 imo. Uncharted 2 arguably the best mp game on a console this year. Is it just me or do all the 260 fanboys don't get it? Valve is making sh!t up on why they won't make anything for PS3, an if people saying 260 is closer to a PC -_- yeah right.

PC's are slowly getting bluray put into them an PS3 and PC are the only two that you can use the hard drive for the game, 260 lacks a good size hard drive an the power to upgrade higher then 120GB (Not counting 250GB until its out) So all and all PS3 is just like a PC>

For the others that said theirs not alot of PS3 users with headsets, most of the people on the PSN that do have them aren't 10 years that just trash talk or play their dumb music on their headsets, I had a 360 an I didn't care much at all for thoses with headsets and I think Valve likes XBL more because of all the noobs on it.

How is Chet's comment so horrendous? All he said was that the 360's online features are way better than the PS3's, which is completely true. I own and 360 and a PS3, play each online often, and I completely agree.

Your statement that Uncharted 2 proves Chet wrong is bull, all that means is that the PS3 is catching up to the 360's online offering. I'd continue this argument but your statement about "what the 360 community is made up of sometimes" shows your true colors as a Sony fanboy. The annoying players on Xbox Live are more prominent because there are more players online and a mic comes free with the console, so more players have the chance to prove themselves as complete idiots.

All that's going to come out of this campaign is a handful of mightier than thou PS3 owners who think some meaningless complaining is going to change anything.
