..will match the graphical quality of Killzone 2. Will even be a tough one for PS3 games to match too.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is a fantastic game in my view. A perfect 10/10 in my book. Great graphics. But even that game has not matched Killzone 2 in graphics. Killzone is truly second to none in graphics. The attention to detail is almost ridiculous.

They're so dissimilar. Halo is rich with bright colors, while KZ has a more apocalyptic atmosphere. I'd love to see the new engine in action. Really, that's the best and only way to make a valid comparison.

We aren't talking about scenery we're talking about graphical fidelity. What, it's hard to see KZ2 totally slaughters Halo3 graphically cause the scenery is different? I don't understand that.

GT5 and Spec ops are two totally different genres but I can clearly see with my own eyes the graphics in GT5 are miles beyond those in Spec ops.

Also, Killzone 1 had a wide variety of colour palettes but it was a natural palette not something that looked like you opened up a box of fruit loops. KZ3 will have the same environments as KZ1 so expect to see the Edge Engine pwn.

is denying that Killzone 2 slaughters Halo 3 visually. anyone can see it does. i believe all Alcon is trying to say (i could be terribly wrong) is that we haven't seen the new engine in action so it's pointless to make graphical comparisons at this point in time. And even when we get that HD direct video, the different color styles may make it even more difficult to gauge which looks better.

if you're talking polygon counts or anti-aliasing or other technical terms, then yes it will be easy to tell when direct footage of Reach is out and there will be a right and wrong answer. but if you're talking about what people think look good just by looking at it, you're going to get more varied opinions because of their preference, and the question of 'which looks better' won't have such a straightforward answer when put in front of the average joe who knows nothing of AA or anisotropic filtering or Vsync or any of those other terms.

kinda went on my old tangent there lol. as for me, i think Killzone 2 was one of the best looking games i ever played, if a little lacking on the color palette, but since they wanted it to have that look it's all good. as for Halo Reach, i won't play it questioning whether it looks better than Killzone 2, i'm gonna see how much of an improvement it is over Halo 3.

Not seeing a damn thing after 3 years of developing one of the most popular games of all time, should tell us something. Halo:Reach will sell ridiculous millions, they might feel that showing the game could only hurt their sales!

Killzone 2 created hype by showing the insane graphics it has! And please don't say it was overhyped, because the only hype was the graphics and if anything it was underhyped in that respect(nothing could prepare us for that).

I say, just get something of what made Halo:CE such a great game into this game and you can count on my purchase of Halo:Reach and a 360 console!

Killzone 2 has something something that halo series doesn't have,that is immersion.With the realistic controls and the atmosphere combined in KZ2, no other fps make you feel like you're in a war bigger than yourself.

Especially if you turn off all HUD

What does it for me is the feel of the guns. The shooting gameplay in Killzone 2 is way better than any other game. The feel while aiming and shooting makes it the most satisfying FPS ever.

The only bad things I can say is that guns are too weak and that you can't aim down the sight with the shotgun. Apart from that it is the greatest FPS ever.

I doubt it, while you may prefer the style of Halo Reach I don't know if it will be as technically impressive as KZ2. Nothing on the consoles is.

Still, it all remains to be seen, we've only got a few crap off screen shots of an early build, you really cant judge squat from that, let alone a finished game.

geometry: this is the lowest thsi is the polygons that maek the world the guns the chars, this is what at a primium, whyile the amout they can use goes up each year , to much geomerty means you cant run animatiosn smooth and other thing

textures this covers the polygon and makes it the color you see, but flat
normal map, this maps the surface of a high detail gorignal model and uses that to fake extra geomery something halo and gear use to an imense amount
alpha deals with transpacence an reflection does that it say

shaders. alow you to manipulate lighting and color on a much finer basis aloweing greater facial effects and detail

uc 2 had higher geomerty and lower normal map usage for basi things

Multiple Small Lighting sources is KZ2's main strength. It incredibly helps the atmosphere of the game. Really impressive tech there, nothing can touch that. UC2 lightning pales in comparison (a single global lightning).

Regarding Halo vs KZ2 visuals, I doubt it, but I dont think Bungie is capable/need to push that much the xbox hardware. ODST got away with such outdated visuals, they always can do it again.

My first playthrough of kz2 SPOILER!!! (if you havent played kz2 and plan on it do not read on... You've been warned) when I got to the part where visari sets off the nuke it took my breath away. It felt so damn real and was actually kind of frightening. But as you progressed towards his palace embers and charred debris flittered around you and gave alot of depth to the atmosphere.. I still get goosebumps thinking about it..Also the deep reds and oranges gave serious undertones to what was at stake....

So wat your saying is that if kz2 was set in a spring time valley with rainbows and flowers the graphics would be better? Limiting a color pallette allows the developer to create a mood or atmosphere. We as humans respond to color in emotional ways therefore in kz2's case the lack of bright colors lent a sense of distress and uneasiness.. It was a very unfamiliar feeling which gave the game tension and kept the player emersed. I really like how the only source of bright colors were things of sybolism. The helgast's bright red eyes, their insignia, flames, explosions, and light sources.. Color is only part of the equation therefore your comment equals fail.

Surprisingly, the mech gameplay was some of the most fluid... more than the infantry combat (before the patch at least).

All they need to adjust now is weapon recoil where it concerns the effect it has on the flight path of the bullet

WTF are you people talking about? the gameplay was fine to me, perhaps some of you are to used to arcady gameplay from COD or halo

(which is why im glad my play time with both were limited)

when master chief jumps it feels like gravity is distorted for a second and moving marcus from gears feels like driving a tank yet you dont hear complaints about either and people play them and enjoy both

Is the most fun I've had in a shooter ever, you may not have enjoyed the game and that's fine, but come on now, to say 'nobody can deny the boring gameplay' is a little churlish. I put a new hard drive in and still haven't gone online with KZ2 since, just because the game to me feels better before the update. It might just be me, but it seems to look better too.

And no, maybe they will be able to get screenshots that look as good as KZ2, but they will not be able to build a game that works, and feels like KZ2.

If you want fact, I loved the game and the controls but you do not which means people with similar tastes as my own will probably like this game. Thanks for your input but you arent changing my opinion of the game sorry.. Oh and YORKIE im gonna have to disagree with you on the sixaxis controls.. I feel that the sixaxis implementation in warhawk was far and above the best and remains so until this date. You may disagree with me but the satisfaction of mastering the sixaxis in that game is one of the reasons i fell in love with my ps3..

LOL...I could never fly the damn Warhawks with the six axis, infact if I'm being honest I pretty much suck at flying Warhawks, but put me in a tank or APC and I'm like a man possessed.....I know the scale of six axis usage in Killzone 2 was on a lower level to Warhawk but to have any movement of the controller effect your aim when sniping was for me a masterful and most welcome addition to the gameplay.

I'm tired of these articles back before the ps3 and xbox 360 were on the market. I did a report in college on both systems and almost predicted exactly what would happen through out the years of the cycle, besides for the slow sales of ps3.still the important thing are the specs that were listed, even back then Microsoft posted stats that their system was not built for Television supporting 1080p the system would run native 720p and do 1080io output. A year after the ps3 dropped, the setting to play the 360 in 1080 p was added to the 360. Its not true 1080p its just upscaled, so these articles of the 360 matching the ps3 in graphics and physics quality is just bonkers. The ps3 isn't even maxed out because the hardware is still new (3yrs). It took to 6 to 7 yrs on the ps2 to make god of war graphics. The 360 is now using different software to run their system called the x-enigine great! We should from this point on seeing all games on 360 running in true 720p, unscaled to 1080p still. But no more call of duty in sub hd, so this x engine is good for the ps3 as well.
Ps3 specs have always been stated that the system runs in hd which is the reason for the blu-ray format. If Hd format isn't need to get the best out of anything hd. why did Toshiba and Microsoft need a add-on. hd format is needed to achieve true hd graphics. once again relating to hardware vrs software. no matter what the 360 does it will never have the hardware to reach what the ps3can do.

sony programers aren't the best from what we know, so that leave alot of headroom. Or they are excatly the opposite and their is more potential with the system than we know. still halo needs to be on the next gen xbox to compete with the ps3 physics and graphics wise. one has to give, either the physics wont be the best and the graphics are unbelievable (forza 3) or the graphics are ok but the controls are great (halo 3).

I don't think Gears has that good graphics but Halo: Reach HAS NO CHANCE of having better graphics than Killzone 2. It's a fact that no Xbox 360 game will look better than Killzone 2 unless Kojima Productions do something realing amazing with MGS: Rising (I keep wanting to call it Raiden). Maybe an Xbox 720 will have better graphics than Killzone 2 but NO Xbox 360 game will have better graphics.

lol in a word, no. In our CS GD class wer using 360 GPU and ps3 CPU and the ps3 processessor is a million times better. We are currently calculating the processor in terms of its power. In short the 360 has almost been maxed out, we figured out that certain code can be compiled into smaller bits, but the same goes for the ps3; however ps3 hasn't been maxed out even with U2 and KZ2
