Is Halo: Reach Just More of the Same Halo?

Well i meant the shooting is the same

and i meant by new is that something that didn't happen in other games

Halo made console FPS so popular, regenerating health, dual wield weapons, theater mode, forge mode and others

uncharted made something new in terms of graphics, yes there are new additions in the gameplay but they are been used in other games

same goes to killzone 2 good game but nothing new but that doesn't mean uncharted and killzone are bad

i liked uncharted 2 but the shooting was meh to me

1. forge is nothing more then a level editor which lots of games had before halo 3(far cry, time splitters, and unreal tournament 3)

2. dual wielding also did not start with halo your obviously a fan of bungie so you should know marathon had it far before halo was even thought of.

3. i'm sure theater mode didn't start with halo but nothing comes to my mind so that is one thing halo started maybe and regenerative health i think they may have started.

so in 4 games they only had 2 innovative features whereas UC is in a category all by itself name just one other 3rd person shooter with plaforming and a cover system and just so you know tomb raider isn't a tps.

halo is the reason that made me a gamer kept seeing my friends playing didn't like until i tried the game and loved it

forge and theater can be used with more than 1 person and after you get it done you share it and people will download it. ( don't forget about file share )

i only played halo so i don't know about marathon

UC2 is considered as an action adventurer more than tps even my friends that love uncharted call it action adventurer

How many alien worlds and space ships have you visited?
If alien chlorophyll was purple and all their plants were purple wouldn't it make sense that they would have purple camouflage?

What if an alien world was gravitationally locked around its sun with one side in constant light? Black is going to be silly on 50% of the planet.

What if they wear purple BECAUSE its such a bright colour and it makes them an easier target. They might just want to prove how tough they are, that they don't ever need to hide?

Lots of possibilities.

Its Sci-Fi, open your mind.

you know what, I like halo's art style just the way it is. I wasn't even happy when they toned it down from halo CE to halo 2, but there you go.

While I agree that I dislike that R&C has been recieved negatively for staying close to the formula (wasn't deadlocked criticised for being a bit different?) even if you are joking you do have to admit something:

8 fairly similar Games in less time than it took Bungie to make 4 Halo's. While R&C is indeed awesome, it is hard for critics to not mark it down.

It is ridiculous...

I think it's ridiculous that one game can get bashed for it while the other praised, NOT the fact that the gameplay hasn't evolved in either title as I think this is a retarded point to judge a game on.

Halo and Ratchet are what they are because that's what people want from them.

On a side note though, games SHOULD make progress, if only graphically and I'd say the Ratchet series has made more leaps than Halo has and that's really where Bungie should focus their attention.

This you should visit the mlg forum talking about this topic.
Some people are already afraid that reach will implement perks like cod 4 has. They like that the BR is a one shot probably gonna be like a real halo 1 pistol or br like in halo 3 as in 2 bodyshots and 1 headshot for a kill.

Halo is catered for the mlg not for casuals. There are big skill gaps.
Like a 50 skill player will butcher a lvl 20 skill player.

people hate Halo, and people love it. ODST was called an overpriced expansion now it's called a full game. Fanboys love to hate Halo because it pushes copies no other FPS on a single platform. I like Halo because it's fun. Most people don't understand that at all. I use to think that if I did no like a game then no one else should either. There are lots of people on N4G that thinks that if it's not a PS3 game then it does not matter.

The problem with so many games now it that you are rewarded for everything. You get you ego stroked for killing one person...or firing your weapon, or reloading. Halo is person vs person. If you are better than me, you will win. It isn't who has the better "perk."

If that's true, why doesn't everyone have the same loadout, or at least access to the same weapons, instead of a race to the best gun? True person vs person would allow all access to the same weapons, and let you choose those that augment your play style.

Having said that, I hope it's an evolution in gameplay, not a reworking. Halo is what it is, and that's not a bad thing, that's for sure.

the same exact thing. How the fvck can a game that is almost a year away be judged by blurry pictures from a cell phone that no ones knows are real or not?

I'll wait til the beta to make my assumptions and decisions about the game, AFTER I PLAY IT! I swear, I don't know what the hell is wrong with people. Although the campaign was a bit stale, Halo 3 did a sh*t ton of things in the MP department. They implemented a robust level editor mode that allowed players to create some very interesting levels. If these levels get popular enough, they make it into matchmaking. Name another game that does that... didn't think so. You can record every single second of gameplay and take pictures and video clips of the cool sh*t you did. You know, those moments that none of your friends would believe you did, Bungie gave you a way to show proof of it.

Look at Uncharted 2, it borrowed some elements from Halo 3, because they were good. Replay of a match anyone? Taking pictures? Filter effects?

Halo MP also has some of the most balanced weaponry in a MP game and when there is a skill gap in a match, you know it. As someone said above, a (legit) lvl 50 player will destroy a lvl 20 player. If you master the weapons in Halo, there is no need for a rocket launcher or a sword. I have seen lvl 50's take out entire teams with only a pistol, when the team had all the power weapons. That is balanced. The lonely pistol is a good enough weapon against rocket launchers, sniper rifles, BR's, and swords. It all depends on the user of the weapon. Halo 3 was and still is a great game. The campaign...not so much... but the MP is where its at for sure.
