lol the guy basically admits he's trying to get hits in the first part of his article. however i do have to agree that the underneath narrative is simply generic. i love the characters and i love the wring and dialog between nate and the other characters but the main story just feeling like ever other adventure game out there. the game is amazing no doubt but the story definitely could have been more original and not so predictable

I've said this all along.

There are two thing about UC2 that might keep it from GOTY.
The sub par story, and the less than interesting multiplayer.

The story is no where near the quality of UC1, and the multiplayer will put you to sleep after a week or two.

I completely respect your opinions.

The story of UC1 was a large part of the reason I came back for UC2 (and obviously the graphics). But the story was kinda generic for me. I could have told you exactly what was going to happen next.
Especially in the beginning when Drake was betrayed by the English dude.
When I can predict the outcome of a movie, I am not interested in it anymore. That is honestly what happened to me. I finished the game and still enjoyed the game because of all the other marvelous things that the game has to offer.

As far as the multiplayer. There is absolutely nothing new that I haven't seen from other games. Its not like the multiplayer is bad, it just isn't special at all. To me it seems like ND added a multiplayer because they had to, not because they wanted to.

We all KNOW Uncharted 2 won't be Shakespeare... who even cares? The story works perfectly well to let us do what we want, which is action, adventure and save the day. I ALSO had problems with the game, and I said so in my review:

That reviews sits at 30% temp here on N4G because I refused to use some bullsh*t title to draw people in. Journalists, even semi-pro ones, need to start having more respect for themselves and their readers.

A game like Uncharted is fantastic despite its faults. With a strong, deep story, it wouldn't even be the same game anyway! It is supposed to be taking off movies of the same type... which never have strong stories either! When it is all this much fun, who gives a crap about the tiny niggles?

strong deep multithreaded storys are for rpgs

simple clean cut storys with ebelishments are for fps, ie the aliens are invading stopthem, sums up most fps storysaction adventure games have to have a ballenced story easy enough to understand and betold without someone explaining it with flowcharts
yet complex enough to make people want to see it though

uc2 had the feel of a film, not a book not a soapopera not some angst idden rpg, but a film a good 1930-50s adventure like treasure of the nile or whatever it was called

the boss as som people complain wasnt that bad and its ilk has been praised in other games

Maybe this writer is saying these things because Uncharted 2 is not a multiplat. I hear comments from people, who do not like Halo, and list no real reasons why? When Bioshock was on the Xbox 360, it was not well received by PS3 fans.....UNTIL IT CAME TO PS3. Well, maybe the same could be said here. (Just a thought.)

And then "Why does Chloe's voice have to be so ....English? Then keep nitpicking at it until an article appears saying that Uncharted 2 was the most overrated game ever. While game like Halo ODST, Gears of War,Fable and Left 4 Dead sit around with plot holes, glitches, terrible voice acting, cliches, clumsy gameplay and greyish ugly environments and yet no articles appear about these faults. Great game but it did have a few lame flaws. The climbing got way out of hand some of the reasons why you did certain things seemed rediculous. Overall, one of my favorite games this year but definitly behind Batman for me.

not every AMAZING game has to be origional. the devs for the first uncharted wanted a game that went back to the roots of an action adventure game. their first vision was not to b something completely new but to bring an experience that has been done so many times in movies to video games. ppl dont understand this. so wen ur makin the comparison to movies like indian jones n puttin it in the same category, ur doin exactly wat naughty dog wants u to do. wat uc2 does is bring the quality story telling of an adventure movie to a video game n they do it with such fidelity and perfection.

The story kind of sucks, and the gameplay is very unoriginal with gears shooting/cover, puzzles for 10 year olds and platforming that plays itself, but the game is still well put together and worth playing. Cant say its worth $60 though. The multiplayer is pretty lame.
