Can Call of Duty: MW2 beat Uncharted 2 to achieve the best graphics of 2009?

GB writes: "What a year it has been. And if we thought that the current year has ended for video games than you are very much mistaken. The holiday season is right around the corner and with games like Modern Warfare 2 and Assassins Creed 2 unreleased so far, we don't really have a clear winner as to who will take the elite title of best graphics of 2009. So far Naughty Dog's Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is running the show. Many gamers have already give their judgment about the game; that its the 'game of the generation'. But Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is really looking like a stellar game which can give Uncharted 2 a good run for its money in the visuals department."

Not happening. The graphics of UC2 aren't the only thing that make them AAA+++. The animations in UC2 are unparalleled, and I guarantee that MW2 won't top them. Not to mention the level of detail in the cutscenes and other presentational elements. Sorry non-PS3 owners, if you want the #1 visual game on the market, you gotta get a PS3.

By the GOW III demo, and man, I LOVED UC2, but God of War looks amazing, the lightning effects are mind blowing, as everything else on that demo, and in recent news the game is supposed to look much better than the demo.

Anyways, Modern Warfare 2 won't be even be on the level of Killzone 2 in graphics. But don't get anything twisted, I'm picking up MW2 first day and will enjoy the great story mode and awesome online play.

MW2 runs at 60 fps, uncharted 2 runs at 30 fps

60 fps shows you 2x the animation, you react 2x as fast, and its much more life like as it delivers extremely smooth animation

and still MW2 looks great despite having to render twice as many frame per second on screen

Call Of Duty 6 is 600p. To tell the truth I'm playing right now to Killzone 2 online and I don't think MW2 can reach the graphic and the elements in it. And I haven't seen any game better than Uncharted 2. 60fps ? MW2 ? For a sub HD game I hope.

This comment just seems so wrong. 60fps gives you 2x the animation? How could that work if the animation sucks? React 2x faster? I react the same as any shooter, my hands don't suddenly get faster because of fps.

@Drake64: MW2 is in fact running at 60fps. That sir is a fact that you should have known if you were going to comment on this article.

doesn't matter even if the animation sucked (MW2 is probably the best animated shooter ever BTW) you still see 2x the animation

and yes you react 2x as fast, thats why 60 fps is a standard in racing games, fighters, action games, and slowly fps games

there is a reason games like GT5, Forza, DMC, Ninja gaiden, Tekken, DOA, SSBB (just to name a few) all run at 60 fps

Now I know you have never played Uncharted 2 or even know what you're talking about. Pretty much you're just reaching here. Modern warfare 2 doesn't have 20 enemies on the screen. Uncharted 2 does. A train to catch and Convoy chase. It has tons of things going on just for 30FPS.

You are right, graphics are very impressed but the animation is garbage indeed, even Killzone 2 visual are better.

I have GeForce GTX 295 and play Crysis with the highs settings, but Uncharted 2 is in aspect far better than Crysis. And i'm a PC gamer and no freaking PS3 fan.

I’ve already beat MW2 single player on the PS3 and I can tell you without a doubt that in no way has better graphics than Uncharted 2, in fact it doesn’t come even close, it’s inferior to Killzone 2 and Metal Gear 4 and it’s just an small step foward from the first modern warfare

the best posible comparison is the difference between the two Gears of War games, the second one has some nice new effects and big monsters but about 90% of the game looks the same as the first one, it’s the same here

on MW2 when you’re walking down some random hall and there’s no explosions or chopper going by it looks exactly the same as the first one, there’s no moment to moment improvement on animations and detailed enviroments like from Uncharted 1 to Uncharted 2

and how can we expect anything more when the game has to look the same on the 360? it’s the lowest common denominator pulling down the superior hardware

33 - BOTH UC2 AND KZ2 ARE AT 720P SO COME ON...

....the diff between 600p and 720p is hardly notciable. And besides, UC2 has a similar prob as kz2, on a lot of textures of the level itself (not the characters) you have low rez textures, i mean most of the levels in kz2 are low res but it is hard to notcie when the only 2 colors used for each level and brown and gray.

Besides, 98% of you people here have not payed MW2 at home on ypur own rig and until you do, you cant say if it is or is not beyond UC2.

I really hate sony fanboys, I will get disagrees with this next statement but in reality, i Thought UC2s graphics, while good, were WAY overhyped. Of course, PS fanboys seem to think that only their opinion matters and cant seem to fathom or understand that not everyone will lap up everyting sony puts out without question.

So, go ahead fantards, disagree away, I know you will even though I was stating an OPINION meaning i am not right nor wrong.

I played Uc2, and the graphics were ungodly. I seriously doubt IW can pull together enough to even come close. We can't say anything for sure until the launch of MW2, but, good luck IW, you'll need it.
