Let's see how long it takes for Valve to come up with a new excuse or spin to this as to why they still won't support the platform!
I predict no more than a week!

I'm a complete valve fanboy, but i agree with what he has been saying (90% of it).
They didn't handle it properly, they were being childish in the comments they made about why they were not making PS3 games. Though.. he talks about not liking steam and them in the deal with EA.. but borderlands is on steam.. :p

3 - As a Ps3 only owner
I would love for L4D come on the PS3 but It seems there is an exclusivity deal or a lack of innovation from Valve. Good thing the gearbox prez called them out for being fanboyish just like 1up used to be.
Bring Valve games to my console of choice!

I've always loved the Half Life games, and think there is no foul in a company not wanting to develop for another platform. However, some of their comments in the past have been a little odd, and seem more about posturing than reality. They don't seem to make sense at all about the PS3 not being a good platform, when all these other fabulous games are coming out on it.

I thought there was an article on here 2 months ago stating Valve was going to make a Zombie game for the PSN that was a table top game like Burn Zombie Burn. Valve aiming for PC is great never been a PC player but the Xbox version of Left 4 Dead should be able to do the same stuff as the PC version and not just be a dummied down version. But for Valve one day praising the PS3 and Gabe saying they might show some support to it one day the next day they see the PS3 as a pile of crap talk about bipolar. If Valve does say release Left 4 Dead 2 on the PS3 the sales will hurt because PS3 fans will remeber the PS3 bashing that Valve has done and how Valve is so reluctant to release a game for the system. But Valve has to realise that you do make more money going multiplatform with a game. I think they should quit being lazy take up the challange and try and develop a game for the Ps3.

actually I'd hate to think that ps3 gamers are that petty where they'd overlook a game because a man voiced his opinion close to 3 years ago. If anything they'd overlook L4D2 because they have so many games coming. Ps3 gamers have always been fickle when it comes to games and usually cling to exclusives save the modern warfare's and assassins creeds of the world.
You have to ask yourself this would the return outweigh the investment for valve? To hire ps3 devs, learn, utlize and implement the cell with the source engine. Would they make as much money as they put into making the game? We don't know.
Also the xbox version of the original left 4 dead was pale in comparison to the pc version. My daugters pentium 4 rig was able to play the game with more onscreen zombies than the 360 version. I'd think 2 would be more of the same.

Randy Pitchford needs to go in a corner and shut the hell up. He is just mad that Valve and Gearbox started around the same time and Valve has become an industry leader while Gearbox keeps comings up short. Randy please finishing up patching Borderlands, completing your L4D clone, and get back to work on your Nuke game. Also I can't wait for Valve to take a shot back at this dude.

7 - Again with the L4D?
L4D looks and plays like a 5 year old game. Randy is right, Valve is printing money on Steam and Source, consoles are not their business model.
The PS3 may take more effort for them to port to, but it doesn't explain why the Windows version I have of L4D is populated by graphic glitches, especially in the cinemas. I guess they've yet to master the PC either...

8 - What's th deal with valve anyway?
I mean, I've been a PC gamer forever and have a ps3 and 360 and nver quite understood why there's this community of gamer's that seems to me on their knees right between Gabe's legs. Half life and all their games are overrated and these guys are printing money like crazy off their iTunes like service that's just for games yet to their fans it's such a great success story or something lol. I don't care where their games appear or don't, only buy em if there is nothing else better on the bargain bin usually

9 - the problem isn't that Valve isn't making games for the PS3.
the problem is HOW Valve has handled not making games for the PS3.
you know, when Bioware made KOTOR and Jade Empire on the Xbox, and Mass Effect on the Xbox 360, they didn't sh*t all in the Playstation 2 or Playstation 3's cereal, and that was BEFORE they made Dragon Age for the PS3.
it's called "not burning your bridges," and it's a VERY wise business practice.
Valve burned their bridges with the Playstation 3 crowd not because they choose to be exclusive to the PC and Xbox 360, but because of:
"The PS3 is a total disaster on so many levels, I think It's really clear that Sony lost track of what customers and what developers wanted."
""I'd say, even at this late date, they should just cancel it and do a do over. Just say, 'This was a horrible disaster and we're sorry and we're going to stop selling this and stop trying to convince people to develop for it."
"I don't think they spent nearly enough time talking to developers when they were developing the PS3. It's less friendly for developers."
"It's a hardware architectural problem. I don't think they thought through the Cell architecture. The hardware is only as good as the software it enables."
“We can focus on what we want to do, which is make game experiences, instead of sweating bullets over obscure architectural decisions they make with Sony's platform.”
does that sound professional to you? does that sound like a developer that you want creating games for your preferred platform?
they snubbed Playstation 3 owners, not by refusing to release their games on the PS3, but by being completely rude and demeaning to that userbase.
why WOULD Playstation fans want to play Valve games when they were dismissed so rudely and unprofessionally?
were Valve's harsh comments even necessary? you don't see Ubisoft talking sh*t about the PS3 because Splinter Cell: Conviction is exclusive to the Xbox 360.
you don't see Insomniac talking sh*t about the Xbox 360 because Ratchet and Resistance are exclusive to the PS3.
it's called "tact" and "professional courtesy."
even Phil Harrison and Peter Moore when he was at Microsoft didn't diss the Xbox 360 and PS3 respectively in their interviews and PR. they always played up the "awesomeness" of their own platform, but they never outright insulted the competition.
Valve insulted a potential business partner, AND their potential fanbase in one fell swoop.
good going, dumbasses. it's not about them being lazy, or even them being fanboys. it's about them being DUMB BUSINESSMEN.
there's a reason why programmers and designers aren't generally PR people; they SEVERELY lack in the "people skills" department.
while Gabe and Valve certainly have a point in expressing their concerns over the difficulties in developing for the PS3, their way of expressing it has cost them a rather large potential extra fanbase (read: INCOME), and i doubt at this point it'd be worth it to try and create PS3 games.
for the record, i own an Xbox 360, and i refuse to purchase their games, or use Steam (i no longer have a Steam account). i won't support a developer that has ANY type of disdain for us GAMERS, who are the people that let them CONTINUE to do the jobs they do.
Valve has lost me as a fan, regardless of the quality games they produce (although, personally, i think Half Life 2 was their last truly great game, although Portal i hear is great; i thought Left4Dead was fun - played it on the PC because at the time, i still wanted to give Valve the benefit of the doubt - but very shallow, and overall a rather overrated game).
i guess they can be a cautionary tale for developers thinking that they can win over a potential marketbase by insulting them and the platform they decided to invest their cash in.
thankfully, i have Killzone 2, inFAMOUS, Fat Princess, Uncharted 1 and 2, LBP, MGS4, Resistance 1 and 2, Demon's Souls, Ratchet 1 and 2, and upcoming GoW3, Gran Turismo 5, White Knight Chronicles, Heavy Rain, The Last Guardian and more to fill the void. i think i'll manage without Valve EVER touching a PS3 dev kit.

Valve only Do PC!!!
Microsoft probably gave Valve a big incentive to work on 360 but L4D & L4D 2 was ported by Certain Affinity and EA did Orange box for 360 & PS3
Valve would have to pay royalties to publish the game on the PlayStation platform and also burden the cost of the development.
As Gabe has said recently, We either continue supporting the ever growing community on steam with content updates for TF2, L4D & L4D 2 with free content, game engine and SDK improvements and mod support or focus are development on other platforms.
The Fact is if Microsoft was not funding Valve for 360 versions there would be no Valve games on consoles simply because there is no money on consoles for valve, The cost of development out weigh the profits of the game

Valve is not only hurting their bussiness.
Yet giving a bad impression about all devolpers, by a lack of skill spouting some careless babble toward a specific group of gamers.
I glad to see someone stepped up to the plate.
This just might cost you Valve.. Investors dont like the water stirred unless its with lumps of sugar.
