IGN: Dragon Age: Origins Review PC

Incredibly deep and expansive, Dragon Age: Origins is one of those titles that can easily swallow up dozens of hours of play and keep you coming back for more. The fact that BioWare chose to include downloadable content, including a new character and side quest, on launch day proves that they have an extensive plan for supporting the game. Couple that with the fact that each character can be developed in radically different ways, and you have an adventure that earns its own place among BioWare's expansive RPG collection. This is the kind of adventure that fantasy RPG fans have been hoping that BioWare would deliver – a game with a ton of re-playability and an incredibly vivid world that is the start of an impressive franchise.

9.0 Presentation
A rich and vivid world, loads of mature themes and story expand the tale of Ferelden in front of your eyes. Inconsistent themes and the gift feature weakens believability though.
8.5 Graphics
While technically solid with minimal pop-in and texture issues, Dragon Age still lacks some of the visual panache that you'd expect from a game of this caliber.
8.5 Sound
Voice acting can be hit or miss, and some effects can go on for too long, but the music and the majority of sound effects are excellent.
9.0 Gameplay
An epic tale with everything from betrayal and revenge to heroism and valor, Dragon Age is an excellent experience from your chosen origin to the rolling of credits. Deep and full of customization, i
9.5 Lasting Appeal
Set aside a large amount of time for this one – beating the game will frequently make you want to pick up and play again to see just how a decision or a conversation would be different.

I don't think anyone is shocked by absurd reviews this gen anymore. The joke GTAIV reviews were the wake up call anyone who still clung to the notion that game reviewers were anything but a bunch of mostly 20 something year old kids handing out high scores for platforms and companies they like.

This game is definite bargin bin material.

7/10 is probably too low. If it was a PS3 exclusive that is probably what it would be getting. But take away the Bioware name and it would be a 8/10 game that almost no one would care about.

Have you even played the game on your PC, or only watched the xbox/ps3 preview videos?

This is easily one of the most epic RPGs to ever come out. The reviewer gave it at 9 because it deserved a 9. 9.5 for lasting appeal - yea 60+ hours makes the 9.5 seem warranted.

Also the game looks great on the PC at a high resolution with max settings, I'd say 8.5 is an adequate score. Its not the best looking game, but some areas like character models look stunning.

Obviously you haven't even played the game, so I have no idea why you are commenting on it. Quite simply, you're an biased idiot.

comments 1.0 and 1.3....tell us something about this game that would make us believe that you have actually played it, and that your not just talking ****???, nothing?, didn't think so. This review is also for the PC version, all the vids of the pc version so far have looked pretty damn good for an rpg.

DA:O offers 50-100 hours of gameplay on one playthough depending on how much quests you do plus the huge replay value. It has an amazing story, characters, voice acting, great dialog and a nice tactical combat system.

Yes it has bugs and glitches and isn't graphically the most appealing but in no way should those negatives lower the score to 7 or make it a "bargain bin game".

Fallout 3 is also an average game because of the glitches and not so great graphics? Huge games always have bugs and glitches, which some can be patched.

The PC version is almost always better at everything so that's obvious. My only problem with this game is the blood. I never thought I would complain about too much gore but the blood in this game is just too much. I'm tired of seeing my character running around the world or having convo while being covered in buckets of blood.
