Don't PS3 Gamers Like Modern Warfare 2?

PS3Blog.net writes:

I was just looking at the American preorder chart, and the numbers seemed strange. I am comparing the number of PS3 preorders to the number of 360 preorders, as a percentage:

Modern Warfare 2 – 38%
Dragon Age: Origins – 54%
Assassin's Creed II – 69%
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 – 88%
Tony Hawk: Ride – 89%
Dante's Inferno – 100.4%

A timed exclusive map is one of the reason.
please ask not PS3 owners, but Activision.

PS3 owner here, and no, not at all interested in Modern Warfare.

Last month I bought Batman Arkham Asylum, Fallout 3 GOTY, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Uncharted 1 & 2, & Borderlands.

On the download side, I bought PS1 classics Oddworld 1 & 2.

We have a lot of games to play, and i could care less about MW, or any Activision games.

3 - simple answer..no!
It doesn't have so much to do with AAA exclusives as it does with the way Activision/IW treat PS3 owners. They act like MW2 isn't even coming out for the PS3.

So...F'em!

4 - 2009 is not the year of the 360
The 360 has a horrible lineup of games compared to the PS3 this year. After the recent release of one of the best games of all time, Uncharted 2, PS3 owner's wallets are probably empty (At least mine is).

5 - It might be just me, but...
I think gamer's are sick of all the bogus reviewer's and fanboy articles that are written just to get hit's on a web site and find out the game is not what you thought it was, so someone can fill there pockets up. The old saying goes, "Time is Money."

Notice how people are not so fast to jump on the bandwagon anymore.
They take there time and money serious, because , some have matured, some are casual gamers and the world economy is not all that hot right now.

If you got the cash to throw around, then do it. Brag all you want about game numbers. People have options and choices, also try to make do with what they have at their disposal.

The masses go buy games because of commercial advertising instead of self gratification. Ads will sell products, just ask any major corporation.
I believe the masses are not so mass anymore thanks to the economy.

Play what you think is fun, enjoy your game(s), I know, I am, at the end of day, that's all that matters.

6 - A bit disapointed
Thanks to some video surfing and my curiosity i've seen part of the ending to modern warfare 2, and I have to say if you aren't buying for the Multi-player then don't get this game.

SPOILER:

Unless you are a fan of very un-happy ending, think Bambi/Shooter's Beginning. Also you don't have to watch it.

Edit: I didn't put it in, just the URL. The watching is all on you.

7 - I never cared about this game...
I rather play something more complete. Uncharted 2, Killzone 2 new ratchet and clank, Assiasans creed 2, I can't wait til Splinter Cell: Conviction is released, that entry in the series is the change I have always wanted about the series to be. I rather support true sequels that offer more than just a minor upgrade in graphics and features that were cut from the original entry and that is all Modern Warfare 2 is minor in every way.

If it weren't for my friends wanting me to get this game I would have probably let it pass by. I am now sadden by the fact that I wont be able to play Assassin's Creed until the end of November/early December.

Because it's just an average, nothing special about it shooter. Just the same as Halo basically. [both Gears Of War 2 and Left4Dead own the living s*** out of any Halo!]

Killzone 2, Battlefeild: Bad Company 1+2>Call Of Duty 4/Modern Warfare 2!

ps3 owners don't like it for similar reasons to pc users.
the franchise has become a stupid money grabbing plot. the game wont even be any good.
It'l be like all the other big releases now - excellent production quality but DIRE gameplay and just sensible game logic design (ie, billions of un-turnoffable n00b tubes, and bullets that kill in 1 when they hit your feet).

basically, ps3 owners don't like it because they are smart ;)

note: this isn't fanboyism, I don't even own a ps3. I donated my 360 to the flat kitchen because it is so useless - fair enough there's nothing I want to play on ps3 either. PC all the way ^_^ - but no MW2, caus Activison are retarded I refuse to buy it - normally I would when the price drops but the price is never going to drop for MW2 because it barely has for MW1

12 - I own both HD consoles and a up-to-date PC
So what happens to one platform, it concerns me.
I will not be getting MW2 because:

1) Activision and their attitude towards Tim Schafer (I love that guy)
2) Activision and their attitude towards Sony (You need to lower the price !!)
3) Activisions peripheral wet fantasy (Yeah, they need to lower the price but how would you like to buy a 200 dollar plastic turn table?)
4) No server options for the PC
5) Price hike

Thats there. I've been keeping count. Gaming is a very serious hobby of mine and if somebody is tried to mess up *my* hobby... I'll not stand for it. I loved CoD4 but like hell if I'm buying MW2.

PS3 has more games this year.

14 - @ the 100.4% debate
What a silly way this author appears to have used percentages.

The way it should be done in this instance is 100% = the combined preorders on 360 and PS3 then a share of that 100% is allocated to each platform based on the preorder figures. For example for every 62 preorders on 360 there were 38 preorders on PS3, the way this guy has done it means nothing, why did he even bother converting the figures to percentages?

Unless it's got splitscreen online, I definitely won't be buying it. Got bored of COD4 and didn't even bother with World at War. Maybe I just outgrew these games or something, I don't know. COD4 was great but, I need that online splitscreen component to justify it.

20 - I am FPSed out
I played a lot of COD4, I played a lot of Resistance 2, I played a lot of Killzone 2. I just can't justify spending $60 on a game that fails to bring anything new to the table.

Uncharted 2 and Demon Souls currently have my undivided attention. Maybe I will take a look at it when there is a lull in video games to play.

They charged extra for a game that didn't have a new engine. They said "if it ain't broke don't fix it"...i thought the extra charge was for the additional development costs? The answer for me is there are tons of other games that i want and im really not in the mood for an fps game in the meantime especially one that is overpriced.

maybe ps3 owners just walk into stores and buy the game when its out. If there is no good game to play, of course u preorder....and we ps3 gamers have no need for that

Regardless of what reason, the chart proves one thing.

"The PS3 Exclusives have already done their job."

And to those idiots who are concerned why Infinity Ward advertises MW2 like it's a 360 exclusive should know that EVERY COD fanboy out there regardless of system would buy it (advertised or not).

I for one will not buy this game as I am running on budget and I have more important games to play with such as:

Resistance 2
Valkyrie Chronicles
Eternal Sonata
Borderlands
Dragon Age: Origins (if I ever finish Demon's Souls)
Assassin's Creed II
God of War Collection

And you COD fanboys wonder why the PS3 users aren't supporting MW2 as "you" expected to.........

I certainly hope that PS3 fans buy this game! I will have it for my Xbox 360 Elite, as this will be one of the BIGGEST games to ever come out! It would be a shame if PS3 owners don't get this game.

29 - Modern Warfare 2 will be the #1 selling game on the PS3 in 2009 (hint: blog = fail)
LMAO @ easily the worst stats to prove a games lack of popularity in the entire history of F-boy blogs.

Let's tell the truth:

Call of Duty; Modern Warfare 2's PS3 American preorder numbers are 650,000+.

This silly blog tries to convert that to a percentage of 38%

To compare Assassin's Creed 2 is shown at 69% but only has a preorder number of 172,000+.

Not even close.

The funniest part is when this fan blogger tries to pretend that PS3 owners are more interested in Battlefield: Bad Company 2. BC2's preorder numbers are a whopping 31,000+.

You would have to bury your head in the sand next week to believe what is being falsely represented in this blog.

Modern Warfare 2 will outsell all games on the PS3 (Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, etc)in 2009.

Let's see what the percentage is compared other games sold on the PS3 this year and watch those numbers flip considerably.

With 1.7 Million preorders, the 360 edition of MW2 is selling the most because the controller + Xbox live make it the best system hands to play the game on. But PS3 owners with one system will still buy the game more than truck load.

Either way: Modern Warfare 2 is the biggest game of 2009..period and that goes for both consoles.

29.1 - its a comparision
Hes comparing how the user bases are reacting to games.
he just noticed a trend that while BFBC might not sell as well, the PS3 user base that is interested in the game is closer to the 360 user base. where MW2 ps3 user base is much smaller compared to the 360 base.

@ SolidSystem

Read the blog again. It has nothing to do with BFBC 'interest' being closer to the 360.

BFBC is 18 weeks away, of course its going to be closer than the 360.

The fact is COD 4:MW outsold EVERY game on the PS3 not named Grand Theft Auto 4 and it still didn't come close to the 360 sales of the game.

Are you really going to defend a blog that uses faulty comparison date to prove that Dragon Age is more popular than Modern Warfare 2 on the PS3?

If you want to prove what the PS3 install base is purchasing than look at the sales on it's system PERIOD. Name a game on the PS3 that will outsell Modern Warfare 2 on the PS3 alone?

It was a no-brainer that the 360 install base in America would overwhelmingly outdue the PS3 base in sales of the game. History is just repeating itself.

29.3 - once again missing the point
once again he is looking at ratios, nothing more.

yes call of duty will probably outsell all those other games that had a closer ratio to the 360.

hes just saying for every 100 360 people getting MW2, there is only 36 getting it for the ps3.

and hes looking at games like BFBC where both user bases are getting closer to 50:50.

so if we assume all user bases enjoy games, and games like MW2 will sell on the ps3, i think its interesting to see that the 360 just has sooo many more reserves than the ps3.

his title is misleading, but if you sit down and understand what the numbers say, and then look and see where hes trying to go with this. its pretty obvious.

30 - cause of MW1
Did anyone forget how little support MW got for the PS3 the first time around?

I love my PS3 to death, but I traded in the PS3 version for the 360 simply because IW didnt support the PS3 version. no rumble, no trophies, etc.

not to mention playing with your friends on the first on on PS3 was a pain in the ass. no offense to anyfanboys here, but you had to be at the right screen to get your invites. its not like 360 where you get a message to go join, or PC where you look at what server they are in and just jump into that server.

Things I will play before COD2. Uncharted, MAG, Assassin's Creed 2. I have here three games to keep me busy before COD. Every year COD comes out at the end of the year. Still I have plenty of time to get COD no need to rush out and buy it.
