PS3 beating Xbox 360 for VOD content

Sony has laid the VOD smackdown on Xbox 360 by announcing it now has 40 studio partners offering movies to its on-demand service – making it the biggest provider console-wise of downloadable content.

Although the service is yet to reach UK shores – it's expected sometime this month – the amount of content available in the US version of the service is a pretty good indication of what to expect.

Canada throws ridiculous barriers in the way of getting this type of thing. No VOD at all with the PS3 yet, and even the 360 video store was over a year late and is severely gimped in selection compared to what's offered south of the border. Mind you the cable companies are all allowed to offer VOD. Go figure.

MS this month has been beaten in their own back yard. Sony has connections with studios because they own studios themselves. Using their connections to secure content providers is what sony does best. We get the best of what they have to offer.

Well, many of Sony's TVs have loads of VOD and streaming video features (like Netflix) and I knew it was only a matter of time until they brought that stuff over to the PS3.

With the great amount of content in the PSN video store, along with Blu-ray capability, DVD upconversion, and now Netflix streaming, the PS3 is hands down the strongest console in terms of multimedia capabilities.

I also prefer to rent movies from the PSN Store over Xbox LIVE Marketplace simply because they use actual dollar amounts, instead of the stupid Microsoft points system that the later service relies on.

They want touch microsoft on the ammount of money sold on their service or the amount of users buying content. Like PSN is free and all but only 14K people are playing uncharted 2 online even at peak hour now thats sad. The same goes for killzone 2 Sony you just dont have the online community like Live. Xbox people shell out the cash thats why the developers love us and if the VOD content sells way better on 360 it wont matter at all.

If you look at uncharted 2 online matchmaking list it shows the current number of players online Nicaraaua ya tard. It shows a big fat 14K players online and its never over that number.But when i go to Halo 3 at 4 am in the morning 400K players are online and thats not at peak times. I can find 400K players in one play list area of halo 3 and thats not the total amount on .

now i got netflix blu-ray sky and zune hd...so many choices

netflix streaming will stay on my xbox
ill continue to order blu-rays though netflix for my ps3

Are you serious!Dont you dare compare Microsoft hardware problems to sonys. The ps1 and ps2 were total crap the blew up left and right all the time they had to get sued before they did anything they got away with murder. And sony had the nerve to charge 90 dollars here 120 dollars there every stupid time the crappy things broke and they never paid the price for it.And the cheap butt ps1 tortilla chip cd's that scratched or broke in half if you even breathed at it them funny.

And the awesome ps3 if that thing break same old story 160 bucks to fix it. Mine and my friends ps3 got bricked by bad software updates and they tried to charge me for it.They did charge my friend.And when i got it back only a 90 day warranty bull)&)&.What if my console breaks again from there constant stupid patches im afraid to plug the stupid thing up the the net.I guess thats another free 160 dollars for sony. And if you are still under warranty if you don't got the original sales receipt no repair for you.

They also after charging my friend 160 dollars to fix his ps3 they gave him a crappy 80 gig for his 60 gig. Everyone i know went through several ps2 and ps1 and Sony charged us all to fix them again and again. Microsoft stepped up and fixed our systems for free for 3 years at a billion dollar cost to themselves and reset our warranty when they come back. Sony is full of )&*()& and so are you Nicaragua.

Firstly dont make assumptions - I am a fan of the PS3 as a product but I am not a fan of Sony over any other company. When i chose to purchase a next gen console i bought the one which was technically better and had the games i wanted. I made the same comparison last generation and came home with the original Xbox as it was technically superior to the PS2. I'll buy whatever is best and dont give a toss who builds it.

Second its not a logical point to say that because one company did something historically that it can be used as a counter to what another company is doing now. I am only intersted in what is happening now, not 5 years ago, not in the future. The fact is that MS are currently overcharging for cheaply made peripherals and an online service that should be free, Sony are currently not.

Thirdly as to me coming on message boards to attack the Xbox 360 then maybe you should actually try and follow the discussion. My original comments come in direct response to another poster attacking the PS3 in what is essentially a pro PS3 based article, then you pipe up with more anti-Sony ramblings in the same pro PS3 article and here we are.

So i would reverse the point and ask what you are doing here in an article praising the PS3's VOD capabilities, ranting like a lunatic about PS1's and PS2's and how lovely your PC is ?

And if (as you claim) you have had such disastrous experiences with Sony products (as you state you had with the PS1 and PS2) then why did you go back and buy the PS3 (as you claim you own all 3 current consoles) ??? My conclusion would be that you are either lying about owning all 3 consoles or that you must be some kind of idiot - i certainly would not buy another Sony product if i had a history of the 2 previous models failing on me.

In conclusion you are coming across as either (or all) an MS fanboy, a forum troll or an idiot consumer. Your ramblings about previous playstation models are irrelevant, and your presence in a pro-Sony article makes you a hypocrite when you accuse me of attacking Xbox 360 owners. I would suggest you take stock of your surroundings before jabbering wild assumptions or your pathetic sob stories any further.

I would like to see a 'real' psn on psp. not just remote play which is awsome btw.
