some people just cant get into 'swords & sandals'.

I guess it's just what you prefer, some prefer the sci-fi, I don't really care myself, as long as we get a good story and fun combat.

Hey can you help me here. Give me some insight into this game since you are playing it already. I'm on the fence and could use some help. FYI I loved Mass Effect, although it had some issues. I also love a good story in games. Is this worth getting? Some details would be nice. Thanks!

I don`t know what else to say about this to help you understand it other then say that if you enjoyed Kotor, Jade empire or Mass effect, you should truly enjoy this game. It`s alot like their previous console games, but in a fantasy setting. And as I said, it is a very authentic straight forward mature fantasy story, think Lord of the rings but with sex and violence.

The reviews should start coming in and you will be able to read up on it alot more, but I can say with full confidence that if you are looking for a good bioware western rpg, look no further, you will have hours of pleasure with this game.

Most reviews so far say it is at least 80 hours and even more than that if you really get into it. :) And then you must of course try out the other classes and back story´s.

It's a really fun game but that's because i've been a fan of bioware's work since baldur's gate 1. So this is a good refresh in my opinion. It's too bad I can't play it on max settings on my PC so I'm picking up the console version. I'm not sure what's so different about the console version other than radial controls, but the interface feels like typical bg/iwd fare and the gameplay is similar to that respect.

The camera angle is neat that zooming back pans the camera to a "strategy mode" found in NWN2, and zooming in brings it behind the character like "Exploring mode." Much better than toggling it with a keyboard button imo.

Otherwise it's a really good game so far. I'm still on the quest for the materials for the ritual. The origin story seems pretty good. I'm not liking EA's implementation of achievements into the game since it's so cliche to have achievements/trophies now. Really... what's the point? Who cares if I finished the origin story of my character? Do people really care for such easy-to-get achievements? (FYI my human noble warrior got this achievement as soon as I got outta the intro "level")

Also for the D&D veterans out there, it's disappointing this game doesn't have many class/races. I understand the whole Grey Warden theme, but the limited number of classes (mage, warrior, rogue) and the limited specializations makes it feel as though they made this game 50/50 with the PC & Consoles in mind. I was really hoping to create a shadow dancer or dual-class a kensai/mage but nope... not flexible here.

well this game is pretty good, and DS is pretty good too. If i have to rate it, I'd give DS a 90 and DAO a 82%. I was really hoping for DAO to be a complete spiritual successor to BG, but it's really not. It's more of a streamlined bioware rpg for the modern day console D&D geek with flashy bloom.

I think there's multiplayer but I haven't checked it out. And I'm not sure if the console versions have multiplayer, but it it doesn't, it definitely gets that 82%. Multiplayer for these kinds of games add so much more to the experience, but too bad like I said above, the versatility they give you in this game isn't much - you're only limited to 3 races and 3 class combinations (with "specializations")

I beat false king the other night on DS and I have to say it's been an addictive experience since I popped the disc in, but also frustrating at times when a black phantom invades, destroys my armor, or soul sucks me for the heck of it. Especially frustrating when it's the same person 3-4 times in a row. It's not a perfect game, but a 90% it deserves. The gameplay mechanic in DAO is much different so us BG lovers will enjoy it, but what's pretty neat about this game is the animation. It looks much more awesome now knowing a shield bash knocks down my opponent and I can actually see the hit collision. In the older games, it sorta just happens with no sense of collision detection.

Im just to oon the fence about this, but since I have never played Baulders Gate or anything like this (But have always loved RPG's), I will probably like it because I have nothing to compare it to.

I see a TV commercial a few times a day for this game since about a week ago. MS must have paid for the commercial because it only lists the 360 & PC as the platforms for the game.
