maybe there's a correlation here.....

PS owners aren't necessarily into FPS style games, but 360 owners are.

Just like how it seems 360 owners aren't really into JRPGs, but PS owners are well expecting them and enjoying some.

I'd reckon that a soccer sport game with such a global audience would definitely sell extremely well, especially on the PS platform, considering PES has been on the Sony platform for ages. Heck, it's an amazingly popular title in Asia and also lots of fans in Europe. My cousin just doesn't stop babbling on and on about PES2010, and how much he wants to challenge me barcelona vs liverpool. He picked up a PS3 today just FOR PES2010.

PES 2010 is amazing!

I tried the demo and haven't stopped playing it since, it does EVERYTHING better than FIFA. In fact PES's HD graphics make FIFA 10 look like a last gen title. Not to mention it has ALWAYS had more fluid and responsive controls. This will be the real coming out party for PES on the playstation platform.

I see what you're saying and the statistics DO back you up, but I buy PES every year (lately in hope more than anything else) and it's the only sports game I've ever bought in the last 6-7 years. My other purchases throughout the year are the top exclusives for the console I have, as well as any appealing multi-platform titles that I like the look of.

I'm baffled with people who only buy one game a year and that game is either FIFA or PES - they're missing out on so many other great games! It's their choice of course, but there comes a time when we must expand our horizons. As much as I've adored PES over the years, I'd go crazy if it's the only game I could play until the next PES is released the following year.

i did download both... am playing only PES demo regularly... don't know. it just feels right. he he...

i did play FIFA10 demo too before the PES10 demo got released. i don't know.. i just don't feel like playing it though FIFA is damn smooth.

plus, what i want to know is if Konami has fixed the online issues... no one seems to be reviewing that part.

anyway.. there are pretty big numbers of PES fans. the franchise has been there for a very long time... i know FIFA is now the new kid in the block but PES does play right where it matters - on the ground.

Meh imo Fifa10 is hardly the best soccer game ever .

It's a good effort from EA since 09 , but very shallow , especially this year . So what if Fifa had style , presentation , more animation and , licences and a great online in 09 and keeps adding to in 10 ?
The core of the game , the gameplay is isnt good enough imo .

Wanna why we picked pes this year ? Well because PES caught in most of those superficial aspects ...

Slick and easy to navigate presentation with good music ? Check
Robust and good online ? Check
New animations ? Check
Truly next gen graphics and engine ? Check

The only edge now left with fifa are the fact that still fifa got more animations and the licenses .

One of them , the licences , becomes imediately irrelevant when you dont have to actually pay for actualized transferts , and can instead download some custom and amateur patches .
On the other hand despite already having licensing rights , EA still tries bleeding people dry with no access to mods , and with paid dlcs for transferts .
And just like with fifa 09 , when May ends , they'll stop updating transferts and leave you on your own to edit manually the game (with a crappy editor to boot) until the next game . So basically you'll be left dry and hanging for many month , a whole summer just so they have an excuse to sell fifa 11 .

As for the animation , well it would be nice to have as many as fifa , but pes10 is already miles ahead of shoddy past two iteration .. so it's good enough .

In the end , all i can see when looking at PES instead , is a still superior , and this year vastly improved gameplay (partially thanks to fifa and it's great sliders idea) , with still superior and improved career and manager modes , and with all if not most of it's actual flaws fixed .

While on the other hand , fifa is still fifa , improving each year in every area except the one that bothers me .

nix - actually PES is the new kid, PES was first released in 2001, I remember playing Fifa on my Genesis more then 10 years ago.

I've played both the PES series and the Fifa series a lot and though I prefer Fifa, I think PES games are really great too. It just comes down to opinions, something that people don't get, like PES fans saying Fifa sucks and vice versa.

Check "International super star soccer " in 1996 .. that's the first PES i know .. they changed the name but still . I think PES is when they decided to introduce the database system for listing every characteristic of the players ..

And still might i be wrong ( since i'm not sure ) PEs is hardly a new challenger in the Soccer games ...
