'Slim' chance for new Xbox 360 in 2010

With the hardware launches of 2009 out of the way and the PS3 slim off to a decent start, attention switches to what hardware developments gamers might expect in 2010. At first glance, predictions of a slimmed down version of the Xbox 360 seem reasonable. As this article illustrates however, there are plenty of reasons why a '360Slim' in 2010 is not guaranteed.

I'd have said MS would come back with a 'Slim' of their own, but this guy makes a good point about resource allocation. Besides...the 360 has enough SKUs already.

slim isnt the problem , its the accessories, a slim model will not change the fact that wireless is 99.99 and a HD is 149.99, the money made from those accessories is how the fill back in that hole of cash spent made by the RROD

lol a 5400rpm hard drive for 150usd.

you could now almost get an SSD on the pc for that price(for the unaware ssd's are cutting edge tech at the moment so are fairly pricy, but their speed is insane. install an SSD and say bye bye to any sort of loadtimes).. what a rip off.

An ssd would atleast be 15-20 times as fast as the crap hard drive microsoft offers for such a high premium.

wifi device shouldnt cost more then 25usd imo.. microsoft is charging too much for old hardware.

then again they are the only ones charging for stuff like going online.....

the ps3 for its cost...lol, pity, seeing the xbox costing this much for not bringing what it have to with it as well...but not, paying for the live...HD...o god and a holy wireless..adapter, well well, there you go, ps3 having all these included, aside of the headset...dont make me laugh. even if they did it...so the rrod % will blow up cus it new slimmed case lol, since that big white piece of plastic is full of heat...how will be a slimmer one, i would love to see it.

The huge problem is the heat management. Slim will make it much more difficult to manage the heat. The 360 needs to have a completely new and efficient design other then the rushed design that caused RROD. MS should take their time and make sure it's shipped in a reliable manner, if they are making a slim version.

Exactly. Heck, some people are claiming the PS3 slims are "overheating" and yet that thing still has a giant fan since the original Phats.

It's not just about how "hot" it gets, but how efficient the machine is able to dissipate the heat so that the unit doesn't overheat. That's the main problem of the current 360s.

microsoft will say the plastic is reliable and quality tested to hold the camera in place.and falls in line with other fair market priced plastic cradles on the market.

fans of the system will buy the "Halo Plastic Cradle" in bulk.surpassing killzone 2 sales.it will post a high metacritic rating and receive 9/10 from eurogamer and edge magazine.showering microsoft on their innovation and original content.but there won't be "too much variety" as it will only come in one color of beige.
