Hopelessly dated and creaking in so many respects, playing PES 2010 can initially be a disheartening experience when coming off the back of EA's astounding FIFA 10. In comparison it's clunky, its feature set paltry and its presentation amateurish – as players who have been enthralled by PES since its trailblazing entries at the turn of the decade, seeing PES lose its grip on the football throne has become a melancholy experience for fans that gets sadder each year.

I'm not gonna get a football game just because its got great visuals. Undoubtedly PES this year looks a lot better than FIFA 10, but that's about it for PES.

The review score is not bad, but I feel that Konami has to go back to basics with the PES series, scrap the current code and redesign the game based on the legacy of the franchise. And most controversially I would think it better to scrap the idea of yearly releases in order to build a much stronger title!

The comments in the IGN review say it all "Hopelessly dated and creaking in so many respects, playing PES 2010"

I hate to admit it but maybe your right. I mean, if Fight Night will be released every 2 years, I don't see why Konami can't do the same for Pro Evo. For the year when there isn't a retail release, they can release DLC for squads, boots, stadiums, etc (i.e. everything not to do with gameplay). That would be sensible if Konami is serious about getting PES back on top.
